Pulp adventure in the modern age; adventure and danger in today's world. The Rocketeer--the high-flying, derring-doing, adventuring ace--in the Twenty-First Century. A modern take on the idea that remembers the spirit of the original while not being afraid to explore modern themes and ideas. The movie is used for the jumping-off point rather than the comic version because the comics are difficult to obtain, the stories are spread out, and different publishers have/had the publishing rights so it's all a bit of a tangled skein as it is. The movie is simpler, easily digestible, and just fun.
