A NOTE ON GENRE
This character explores themes of horror, eldritch abominations, dark/high fantasy, and realm traversal. Please understand that I am reluctant to change these aspects of Alkereth, since they're an integral part of his character. That said, I will always ask a group setting if this character is acceptable before joining! |
INSPIRATION
A history: For over a decade, Alkereth was my brainchild borne from an amalgamation of television shows, video games, and books. But rather than copy from these sources directly, I was intent on making something for myself from the media I loved. For a while, I had an idea of a character, but I never had a name. Some time in 2012, I had a dream that someone told me: "Alkereth. Remember Alkereth." No rhyme or reason to have this dream, but I do remember writing it down when I first woke up. I joke that maybe my dream brain was trying to conceptualize a character. After this, I've slowly developed stories involving a man named Alkereth and his horse. One day, I randomly saw an adopt on stacy-white's Deviantart page. Then, it... clicked. I knew that if I won this adopt that this was going to be Alkereth. Needless to say, I'm thrilled he's mine. He is my muse and my favorite character, and has been with me in one shape or another for several years, finally honed into the eldritch-hunting Priest he is today. Thank you for stopping by to view this character that I've worked hard on for a little over ten years! Dark Souls: Overall dark themes and mystery surrounding the Dark Souls universe gave me ideas for this character. Elden Ring: Exploration on horseback, the magic in the world, and eldritch mystique was a massive inspiration for Alkereth and Lunrath. Sandman: I've never read the comic books, but it's on my to-do list! But I've watched the first season and loved it. Morpheus' mannerisms and attitude really vibes with how Alkereth was shaped. Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar series: Concerning Companions and Heralds was a concept I loved so much that I borrowed some of the ideas to shape Alkereth and Lunrath. I tried to add a deeply personal twist to make my idea unique, but I will always refer to the Valdemar series as the biggest inspiration. (HMU if you've read these so we can be nerds together) |
