Rémi d'Aubigné

Barely halfway through his second century, he's old enough that he doesn't at least smell of new blood, but young enough that he's used to the Vampire Elite scoffing. Ironically, he looks quite a bit older than most vampires. He tends to blend in reasonably well with humans, despite dressing a bit anachronistically. It's likely because he's well-fed, although maybe it's the heartwarming aura of 'everyone's grouchy grandad'. Senior citizens tend to get overlooked by demonhunters.

He lives in a dilapidated farmhouse half-taken by Knochenwalde. The original occupant, a farmer either taken by the supernatural, or lest gone mad and having run off. At any rate, the deed is moot and most citizens don't venture out that far anymore--except to steal some of the produce grown there.

He initially comes off as cool and a bit standoffish, or maybe just cranky. Wary, and difficult to really befriend, but willing to accept pleasant conversation. It's a good idea to open with a shared interest. He tends to have that expression like he's silently judging everyone.

That said, he isn't particularly threatening although (depending on his mood) he can exude a supernatural air of unease. It tends to get people out of his presence in a hurry, although they later don't really remember why they left.

Those that know him better describe him as snarky, sarcastic, deadpan, bitchy and definitely grouchy, with a sharp laugh.

• Scrunches his nose when he's genuinely smiling, or really laughing.
• Occasionally tends to forget he has a fang out. Rookie mistake. What a noob. Otherwise his shapeshifting is usually excellent.
• Long roman/aquiline/hooked nose
• Monotone, gruff voice (Daniel Guichard)
• Coppery eyes; either warm and inviting or unnerving and cold depending on the circumstances
• Scrunches his nose when he laughs or smiles genuinely
• Chronic Awkward Smiler(TM)

Likes

• Gardening/Plants - Idle hands are the devil's--oh, well. He supposes that doesn't bother him much anymore. He hates sitting still, so he falls back on old habits--and he only has one. He doesn't have any use for vegetables anymore, so he's begun learning more about the aesthetics.
• Tea - Something Madeleine introduced him to; he figures he would probably appreciate it more were he alive.
• Books/Reading - Something he didn't pick up until after his undeath...
• Blood??
• Peace and quiet - Please.
• Dance - Not something he expresses, but he has a strong, unspoken appreciation for it. High-class things like ballet and the waltz he only really encountered after he died.

Dislikes

• Noise - Please.
• Probably you - No offence.
• People disregarding garden paths - At the very least, people not looking where they're stepping.

Blood Preference

He really doesn't have one. He doesn't tend to go for violent attacks, preferring to quickly and quietly subdue people, take his share, and leave them somewhere safe where they can be found. He's become confident and in-control enough as a vampire that he rarely kills.

Minor shapeshifting, superspeed, nightvision, charming and hypnosis, other basic vampiric stuff. He's got a particularly good grapple on all base-level vampiric abilities.

Strengths

• Charming Like most vampires, Rémi can charm or hypnotize people. Those enthralled by him often (although it depends on the person) find it very easy to trust him, like a close, old friend or parental figure. He tends to play it subtle. He can't seduce anyone to save his life.
• Shapeshifting/Glamour Rémi is particularly adept at shapeshifting, an affinity he got from his sire. Especially when blending in with the living, he can become almost innocuous in a crowd. The visible age-gap doesn't hurt either. Most are a little more likely to invite in a kindly old man.

Weaknesses

• He's not much of a fighter, and he doesn't try. That said, he's solidly built and has a mean right hook.
• Rémi has no love or connection with the Church--when he was alive, the Church was nothing but a greedy organization that collected tithes from him and did little for the people. That said, artefacts and tools of the faith are as strong against him as any other vampire.
• Stupidly curious about: gardening shit, dance shit. He'll come over to investigate plants he doesn't recognize, or most forms of dance. He's not stupid about it though, and still has a good sense of self-preservation. Except...
• When he mouths off to someone he shouldn't and gets staked.

• Pocketwatch - A heavy brass hunter-case, with a watercolour portrait tucked inside.
• Reading glasses - Halfmoon specs; vampirism couldn't cure everything.
• Cane - He hasn't needed it since he turned, but he tends to use it partly out of habit and partly to help draw attention away from himself.
• Letters - Not that he can send anything. He's stuck here.
