Name:
A wandering vagrant of nomadic lifestyle with roots planted nowhere save for the van he lives and travels in; this man has been called everything from a transient punk to a conspiracy theorist gutter rat and seems unable to settle down for more than a few weeks at a time before moving on. It is as if he is searching for something unknown; despite detesting the term "homeless" he has never found anywhere that he could call home. Instead he follows the will of weirdness and goes where it might take him in the hopes that fate will someday be kind.

Class:
A type of freelance researcher, Nick hunts down things of a spooky, creepy, mysterious, and unexplained nature. This covers anything that could be called paranormal, legendary, extraterrestrial, cryptic, cryptid, or otherworldly. In the pokemon world this is likely to be considered still on the fringe, but much less of a psuedoscience. Nick could also be considered a ruin maniac, relic hunter, and given that his research does not garner a steady income, in general just an odd job taker. A little too willing to go where most people won't go; be that dark cave, private property, smoking crater, or haunted pizzeria.

The majority of his time is spent on independent field research where he collects and documents data for individual reports to be sold - actual contracts of employment and funding are rare opportunities that a criminal past generally dissuades, especially to a largely self-taught conspiracy theorist. Nick does have a minor degree in biology, but it is a relic of his resolve as rusted as the vintage badges collecting dust inside their case.

Speaking of relics, you know those trainers that will trade you for your shard pieces? This is one of those guys.

Trainer Level: Pokemon:

Nick is skilled in the sense of having much experience regarding pokemon in general, being a researcher and having spent more time around them in his life than he has with other human beings. However, he is primarily a researcher and explorer whom considers his trainer status of secondary importance; he harbors very little interest in battles of a competitive nature and the more passive nature of his team shows. What knowledge he has does not make up for the deficit in creature strength and training - subsequently, Nick can be considered something of a pushover in fair battle.

Nick is primarily Johto based! While he makes the occasional excursion into Hoenn or even more rarely into Sinnoh, he otherwise does not travel far outside of the collective area and seems mysteriously reluctant to even get close to the Kanto border.

A very big fan of traveling into the island regions of Kanto and Johto's southern waters whenever possible. The region speaks to him strongly and he is certain that the island chains carry with it many incredible secrets of the ancient world and perhaps even answers to the origins of life.

• This character is constructed to be as canon as possible while taking consideration of content from all sources to the best degree that they can correlate in a more serious view of the pokemon world. An exploration of pokemon from a more realistic standpoint takes the most plausible and realistic scenario into consideration first, but certainly expect some amount of fan speculation and assumption! This character is meant to explore the inexplicable mysteries of the pokemon universe.
  
  
• Note that this is the type of player who views pokemon much more realistically in their mind's eye. They're generally not into hybrids, but the idea of pokemon having natural subspecies-esque variations in color and form (within reason) is greatly appreciated. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that this is even canonically the case.
