Jasper Beta

Jasper is a curious, playful, childish type of person. She spends much of her time playing the violin, which also doubles as her weapon, but she also likes to write stuff down constantly. Usually in one of her 12 different journals, but she sometimes takes to typing stuff on her phone as needed. Her handwriting is pretty neat, in comparison with the rest of her team at least, so it's not hard for anyone to read the notes, but she doesn't like it when people just take them. You know that feeling you get of "what the fuck do you think you're doing??" when someone tries to take your phone? That's her with her books. She also has a variety of other books sitting in a shelf on her room, all of which she's read at least twice. She's generally a very organized person and has a habit of being the one who ends up cleaning the dorm all the time because Mellow is lazy, Frankie is the "oh whoops I can't do that I have other stuff going on today" because he's also organized, but he's much more socially outgoing than Jasper, and Jade... well, she helps sometimes.

If there's one thing Jasper is proud of, it's her observational skills. She is, even if she doesn't realize it, constantly taking in details about her surroundings, including her environment and the people around her. Having made numerous escape attempts from the people who kept her hostage for 6 years, most of which were unnoticed, the only reason she never actually got free is a lack of time to carry them out. When allotted 3 hours to sleep, she was often too tired from the other 21 hours of training and fighting to put her plans to use, but she was never too tired to think of them, and often fell asleep while thinking about them. Due to the conditioning of only sleeping 3 hours a day, Jasper is actually in her comfort zone when fighting off of less than average sleep, as it makes her more alert. She also is good at combating different fighting styles, but is mostly defensive in group-combat due to her history. She actually prefers not to fight at all, but at Redwing Gulch (or her major in general), there's not always a choice.

Overview
Jasper was born near in a small village in Barranca and raised by her mother and father, two torrent rune users. She grew up an only child and was fairly happy; her parents loved and cherished her as parents should, taught her a lot, told her stories, and just generally nurtured her. She loved them so much.

But when she was 10, she was kidnapped in the night. A man came in and took her away, shooting her dad in the head when he tried to protect her. She still struggles with gunshots to this day, which her captors ended up abusing to get her to do as they said. As someone with depth runes, she was almost *destined* to be an incredibly powerful rune user. They forced her to train, and when she was eleven, she took her first life. A small oppalus, a species of basilisk. She cried for days over it, but it didn't stop there. She was fighting bigger and bigger basilisks as the months passed, and when she was injured, they drugged her, treated her wounds, then put her back in the small concrete room she grew to knew as home. It wasn't *her* home, but a rest from the bright arena lights for six hours of sleep was a hell of an improvement.

When she was twelve, she killed another person. They put her in the arena with another child who clearly wasn't as experienced as she was, and literally told them "only one of you is walking out of here today. the other is going in a body bag."

And... well, she won the fight. It still haunts her to this day. Taking a life was the hardest thing she'd ever done, and at one point she considered letting someone else win to be free of it all, but before that could happen, the trafficking ring was busted and she and many other people were rescued. It was so bad, there were people who were *born* in the underground tunnels who didn't even know what natural light looked like.

As a scared, abused child, Jasper naturally took to the nearest person who wasn't wearing dark clothes. A canyon falaen woman named Raine, who let Jasper cling to her for the next few days almost straight. They couldn't find her parents, and Raine was too attached to let her go to an orphanage, which is essentially where children can be abused legally (same for their foster care system), so she adopted Jasper.
