Odo Akamatsu

When one looks at Odo, they'll notice he wears odogaron armor, the armor made of a savage, bloodthirsty monster. Knowing this, most people turn their gazes elsewhere, as they don't want to annoy anyone skilled enough to take down such a beast and claim it's hide for protection. Those who catch him out of his armor, which is rare, will see he has medium-length white hair, much like the fluff on his armor's helm. His eyes are a pale blue, and he has a rather pale complexion to match. Most people chalk this up to him being covered by his armor all the time and not getting much sun. Many are thrown off by his long nails and double fangs, not to mention that his gaze is rather piercing. The scars on his pale complexion top everything of for a rather intimidating man.

Odo's mother passed away after giving birth to his little brother. Odo always had a temper, but it worsened after the death of his mother, and his father didn't take kindly to it. He was not a kind man in the slightest, and he kept Odo in check by making him hunt dangerous monsters again and again. Due to Odo's father's high standing in the village, nobody questioned his methods and were ignorant of Odo's suffering. The only reason Odo survived this treatment was due to his own willpower and the need to make sure his baby brother remained safe. Unfortunately, this didn't last long. Odo's brother died at the neglectful hands of his father when Odo himself was only seventeen.

A beast was awakened inside Odo that night, both figuratively and literally. The village woke to horrid snarls and slickening screams. The Akamatsu home was turned into rubble, and the red, sinew-scaled dog was the only thing in its place. The villagers who didn't flee could only cower before the beast, knowing that it was their ignorance that played a hand in birthing it. Even as Odo ran off into the wilderness, only silence sat, the villagers mourning the loss of a boy whom they'd failed.

So, to properly mourn, the village rebuilt the Akamatsu home into a shrine. There they crafted depictions of Odo's monstrous form, along with a grave to properly set his little brother to rest. The entirety of the property was transformed from a pile of ruble and misery to a peaceful resting place. They were unaware of how literally a certain man would take that.

Two years after the tragedy, a grown, human Odo returned, wearing armor crafted from his own scales. He'd come to see what had become of his old home. As he stood in front of the shrine and traced the delicate paintings of his brother, he came to a decision. He morphed into the massive red beast from that painful night and announced to the village that, in return for showing him respect after his tragedy, he'd stay at the village and become its protector. An offer the villagers adamantly agreed to.

Nowadays, Odo again lives in the village. He can be found in human and monster form, sleeping in various locations around the shrine. He will leave to patrol and prowl around the wilderness outside the village, fending off other monsters and keeping himself busy. It's now his duty to protect his village and the people within, much like he protected his brother all those years ago. Only this time, he won't fail. He will rend anyone who wishes harm to his people limp from limb, just like he'd done to his poor excuse of a father.

Odo's always had a temper, but it worsened when he gained his shifting ability. He's huffy at the very least most of the time and has a low tolerance towards more chatty individuals, unless they are children. Most folks in his village keep a respectful distance, offering a bow here and there but only speaking to him when needed. When it comes to the village people, he will try to be decent with them. He understandably grows more angry when in his monster form. In these cases, unless you are an ally, it's best to make yourself scarce or be caught in the crossfire of whatever destruction he may cause. He's calmest when things are silent. In the comfort of his shrine, when the sun is down and the moon is full, some may see him even rolling over on his back in monster form as if he were a normal dog. Although an oversized one.

Odo can fit in any fantasy setting! High, mid, low, dark—any of that! While he is a Monster Hunter OC, you don't need to know anything about MH to roleplay with me. He's just a dude who can turn into a big 'ol flesh doggo.

Odo takes the form of an Odogaron, a monster described as a large quadrupedal beast. It resembles a decaying dog, with red sinew-like scales covering its body. It bares a maw full of outward protruding fangs and blue eyes. Along with these odd features, it also has a double set of claws on each paw, making it's swiping attacks very, very dangerous. Beware of its long tail, for the beast is dexterous and knows how to use it.

Odo's personality shows in his fighting style. In human form, he uses a pair of dual blades. He's savagely fast, acrobatic, and never in the same place for even a second. While using his dual blades, he can enter a state known as 'demon mode', and while it has nothing to do with demons in actuality, his speed and damage output increase dramatically on top of his already savage fighting style. This is a temporary ability that can tire him out and leave him vulnerable to attack if he's not careful.

When in his odogaron form, though, Odo can use his double set of claws to slash and strike his opponents. Of course, he bites as well; that set of knives in his mouth isn't for show. His long tail is just as deadly, especially if he decides to get acrobatic with his movements. Fire and water elements also cause less damage to him.

Odo is not without his weaknesses, however. Thunder and other lightening based attacks will always cause him trouble, and ice attacks are even more harmful. Not that he'd think to retreat either way.

Morphing is pretty simple for Odo. He can do it quickly and pretty much at will. His body gets engulfed in red sparkles, and his body takes shape into either a monster or a human form. It doesn't hurt him, but it makes it hard to transform inconspicuously. This can get him into some tight situations.
