Known amongst the Zothetis Empire as the first born daughter of the Duke of Cotolia, Amecia Seymour was destined for great things. But she seemed to pale in comparison to her father’s great expectations for her. His ambition was for his daughter to marry into nobility, or maybe even royalty if all went well. But for reasons unknown to the citizens of Zothertis, Amecia has never set foot off her father’s Duchy. She has never been seen in public, despite there being numerous attempts to invite her to such functions. Her father would come up with numerous excuses, either she was too frail to attend or too ill. It left the Kingdom wondering what would become of her…but one day, out of the blue: her betrothal is announced. But it is not to anyone of nobility or royalty. Standing at a rather petite five foot and two inches tall, Amecia Seymore is definitely on the small side. She has a slender hour glass frame, meaning that her shoulders and hips are wider than her waist, giving her elegant looking curves that aren’t disproportionate to the rest of her body.

She is also very light, weighing a mere eight stone and four pounds. Due to her slender figure, her ribs are just slightly visible beneath her skin, whilst her wrists and ankles are so tiny most adult men are able to touch their pinkie with their thumb when wrapping their fingers around her wrists.

Her hair is a beautiful shade of golden blonde that comes to a stop at the bottom of her spine. When tied up, it is considerably shorter, which is something she often does to keep it out of the way. But her locks consist of gentle waves that shimmers in the sunlight whenever she goes outside.

One of the most distinguishing features about Amecia is her blue eyes that are said to be the same colour as a summer’s sky. Calming and warm to behold, capable of conveying a great deal of emotion in just a singular glance. They truly are, in this instance anyway, a window to the soul.

As for her complexion, it is rather pale but smooth to the touch, appearing to be free of any imperfections such as moles, birthmarks or freckles. At least on first glance. Beneath her clothes, Amecia is in possession of freckles on her shoulders, as well as on both of her elbows.

Thanks to the treatment she received from her father throughout the majority of her childhood, Amecia is a rather timid and easily frightened young woman. Sudden movements or loud noises tend to make her flinch or recoil from whatever or whoever it was that instilled the fear in her.

She is also very self conscious, of both her looks and her opinions. Amecia is the type of woman who will dwell on a mistake for quite some time, because she thinks she’s going to be punished for it. Because of this, she always feels an immense amount of pressure whenever she’s given a task.

It could be said that Amecia is quite the softly spoken woman, lacking authority or confidence in her tone. It is easier for her to nod and agree with what’s being said rather than share her opinion, or tell people how she’s feeling. So more often than not, she keeps everything bottled up inside.

But whilst she might be nervous and easily startled, Amecia is also an incredibly determined and loyal woman. She can’t bring herself to give up on anything or anyone, even if it involves putting herself in a danger, the thought of being useless or worthless is too much for her to bear.

It goes without saying that she, once comfortable with someone, is a very loving person. Devoted and compassionate. She will do everything within her power to make sure the people she cares about, or the ones relying on her, are happy. This means she puts her own emotions aside.

During the middle of one of the worst snowstorms in Epholyn history, Amecia Seymour was born. Her father, the Duke of Cotolia, would have preferred a son. It was the hope of every upper class or noble male when their wife became pregnant, that their first born child would be a son. In this case, it was not to be. But the Duke was not disheartened. Not for long anyway. The initial disappointment faded away and mere days after the birth of his daughter, he began making plans for her future. Not to ensure her happiness, but to elevate his own status amongst the social hierarchy. His plans for Amecia were only meant to fulfil his own selfish desires.

But as she grew up, it became clear that she did not fit into his grand scheme. He wanted her to become a desirable wife to both nobility and potentially even royalty alike. However, as Amecia developed and aged, signs started to show that this would not be the case. At least, not in her father’s eyes. His daughter was weak. Frail. Unable to stay on her feet for too long before she would collapse. Constantly at risk of falling ill, having basically no immune system. But the worst ‘trait’ she displayed was her nervousness, her soft voice and a tendency to stutter when she became stressed or afraid. He was disgusted at the pathetic heir his wife had given him.

When Amecia was three years old, her father started to beat her. Most of his ‘punishment’ as he would grow to call it, was dealt with his cane. But other times he would strike her with his hand or kick her after knocking her down onto the floor. This would continue for years, all whilst he kept her hidden away from the public to hide the shame he believed his eldest daughter brought upon the family. During this time, he was also attempting to sire the heir he wanted: a worthy successor to the family name. Amecia’s mother would proceed to give birth to another daughter before eventually giving the Duke what he wanted: a strong and healthy son.

Amecia’s younger sister, Estelle, grew up to be the daughter their father always wanted. Instead of Amecia, it would now be Estelle who would be placed in the spotlight and doted upon by the citizens of the region. How could they not? Estelle was perfect. Graceful, educated, polite and desirable. It wasn’t long before she would start attracting suitors of both noble and royal heritages. Plans were made ahead of time, promising Estelle to be the wife the prince of Epholyn. Amecia, on the other hand, was failing to impress her father or make him proud, so her punishments continued throughout her teenage years, whilst her mother did nothing to help.

When Amecia was nineteen years old, her sister’s betrothal to the crown prince of Epholyn was announced to the public. Estelle, only sixteen years old at the time, was all anyone could talk about. Her younger brother, Tobias, who had just turned thirteen, was already being given responsibilities in preparation of inheriting the title of Duke. Amecia, on the other hand, had been confined away to a small wing of the family’s estate to ensure she didn’t taint their good name. But whispers were starting to emerge, questions about what had happened to the Duke’s eldest daughter and why she did not attend any social functions.

Her father always gave similar answers: claiming she was ill or unable to make the journey. It seemed to satisfy people for a little while, but when Amecia was not present at her sister’s wedding, it only made them question her absence even more. Worried that he would be forced to bring his daughter out into the public eye, her father decided it would be in his best interests to get rid of her and send her off to another region where he wouldn’t be affected by her public appearances, if she made any. It was by pure chance an old acquaintance was passing through the area and sought shelter at the Duke’s estate: a commander, who's son was a knight.

For an upper class woman, marrying a low-born knight was hardly beneficial for her seeing as it would lower her status. But the Commander and his son lived in Lumore - a region on the complete opposite side of the Epholyn kingdom. During the Commander’s stay, the Duke proposed the union between their two children. Naturally the Commander accepted, seeing as it would improve the reputation of his son and his family name, even if it would cost Amecia her status as an upper class woman. His son, the knight, wasn’t happy about the arrangment, but was told he had no choice in the mater, to accept or else he’d bring shame to their family.

Amecia’s father didn’t tell her about the union until three days before the wedding was to take place. His only instructions were for her to be a good wife and provide the knight with heirs, or else she would disappoint him more than she already had. Unknown to her, the Duke couldn’t care less whether or not she actually made the young knight happy. He just wanted his daughter gone and married off, and at that point it would be too late. In his mind, once the knight realised how pathetic and frail Amecia was, there would be nothing anyone could do. A divorce would be shameful, given his lowly status, and ruin the knight's, and his family’s reputation.

So when the announcement hit the people of Cotolia that the eldest daughter of their Duke was being sent to Lumore to marry a knight in three days…naturally they were shocked. Amecia, meanwhile, was preparing herself for her future life as a knight’s wife, to do her best to make sure she was the best wife she could be to him…despite the fact she had no idea who this man even was. She knew nothing about him, what he was like, and that terrified her. The idea of marrying a man who would beat her like her father did was enough to make her cry herself to sleep every night leading up to the wedding. Her nerves were on edge when morning came.

The wedding itself was not simple, but not exactly lavish either. Amecia’s family did not attend, however, several members of Nobility from Lumore were in attendance. Mostly to satisfy their own curiosity and see if the rumours were true. Amecia managed to stutter her way through her vows, assumed nervousness by most rather than a lifelong habit she’d developed. And that night she consummated her marriage with her husband. It was painful, an experience that brought tears because no one had told her what to expect. He was not forceful or violent, but her body just struggled to accept his without a great deal of discomfort.

But that morning, when she woke up, her husband was leaving the bedroom wearing his armour. He’d been called to war, to serve the king and his country. A year later, with no word or news on whether or not he was alive, he returned as the hero who dealt the killing blow to the great beast - the unkillable dragon Cadmus. No more was he a knight…but a lord, blessed by the King himself with the entire region of Lumore to rule over. Along with this new title and many responsibilities, came a lavish estate. But when her husband returns home to bring his wife…the newly appointed Lady of Lumore to their new home…he finds an unpleasant sight.
