Cassius Claw

Cassius looks like your average hunter, with a lean yet muscular build, pale skin, and blueish black hair. Yellow eyes shine through the helm of his armor. Said armor is made from the feathers and scales of a nargacuga, keeping him light on his feet, much like the monster itself. People often ask about his sharp, black nails, which he'll usually puts off as a cosmetic choice. 

Cassius was an average monster hunter, using his fast reflexes and accuracy with a bow to pierce through his enemies, be they monsters or men. He quickly worked his way up the ranks, taking on faster and stronger monsters and earning himself the title of an A-list hunter. He was proud, and he was happy.

It all came to a halt one late night. The sound of the panic horn blaring woke him from his slumber, and he soon dashed out the door to see his village overrun with monsters. Fires burned, lightning crashed, and homes were destroyed. His fellow hunters slowly getting overwhelmed. Cassius tried. He tried so hard that night to save anyone he could, but when a nargacuga caught him off guard, the swift hunter realized that he'd met his end.

But he woke up the next day. He woke up in a different body. A body he knew, a body he'd come face-to-face with many times over the years. A nargacuga. 

But how--why? Why had he been turned? Why were his former friends slashing their swords at him? Why was he being chased out of his own village? Why was this happening?

Answers Cassius never got. All he knew was that his village thought him dead and only saw him as a monster.

All he could do was leave. Leave and try to make peace with himself.

Peace came hard. Cassius tried to cure his affliction, but it was impossible. He was stuck like this. A monster forever. Forced to live in the wilds of whatever kingdom or land he came across. It took many years for him to learn his own abilities. He could shift back into a man, indeed. It should've been a joyous day, but Cassius had found himself too jaded to celebrate by this time. 

So, using his own scales and feathers, he forged himself new armor and a new bow. Immediately, he drowned himself in mercenary work, even going so far as to use the monster to take on big jobs. He only took jobs he found moral, and he tried to build up some sort of life again. This, unlike his other failed attempts at anything, did work. He's stable. As stable as a merc can be, and a bit of the old him shines through now and again. Happier, rowdier. But his days as a monster, and the monster he knows he still his, keeps him grounded. He's smart enough to know that it's a part of him forever, and he will no longer hesitate to let said monster free and unleash his rage on his enemies.

Quiet is a good way to put this archer. He will not shy away from conversation, but he's usually not the one to initiate it. He's lost a bit of his social prowess in his years as a monster. Still, though, he can be rowdy if the mood is right. A bit of ale helps as well. On the job, though, he's never taken out of his focus. Ready to fight, defend, and kill if he must.

Cassius can fit into any fantasy setting! High, mid, low, dark—any of that! While he is a Monster Hunter OC, you don't need to know anything about MH to roleplay with me. He's just a dude who can turn into a big 'ol wyvern/dragon.

Cassius can take the form of a nargacuga, a viscous panther-like wyvern. It's a sleek monster with four limbs; two strong back legs, and front legs barring developed wings with natural blades on the outer spine. Despite its wings, it is rarely seen flying, preferring to fight on the ground. It has a long, thick tail covered in a mix of bluish-black feathers and fur like the rest of its body. Its tail also possesses sharp spines on the end that flare out in agitation or combat.

When in his human form, Cassius uses a bow and arrow to fight for the most part. His arrows are constantly regenerating so he never runs out in the midst of battle. He's extremely quick and moves around a lot during battle, making it hard for opponents to hit him. If his mask or grieves get knocked off, he'll use his claws and fangs if the situation demands it.

In his nargacuga form, he is also very quick. He uses his tail to bat away enemies and uses the extra-sharp feathers on it to deal more damage and even use as projectiles. The spines of his wings are blade-like and nearly impenetrable, making it easy to slice up his opponents. When enraged, he's faster, and his eyes glow red and streak as he moves. In this state, he gives up all stealth and puts more power and speed into his attacks. When it comes to weaknesses in this form, Cassius is susceptible to lightening the most and it can cause great damage. Other than that, he is very resistant to ice.

Morphing is pretty simple for Cassius. He can do it quickly and pretty much at will. His body gets engulfed in blue sparkles, and his body takes shape into either a monster or a human form. It doesn't hurt him, but it makes it hard to transform inconspicuously. This can get him into some tight situations. Cassius being Cassius, though, he'll find a sneaky way of handling it and disappear before anyone's the wiser.
