Velitnitsa

Though women of great beauty one would be wise not to trifle with the Velitnista, not only due to the great and terrible taboo that is is to harm members of the order, but because of the nature of the common Porranian.Older than even the first age of blight they are women who have witnesses the dying of their world and met it with violence. True Porranians at heart they were baptized by the first age of blight and since have known nothing but war and violence engulfed in eternal arctic storms.

They are a people of a strong warrior culture that has long since accepted death as a normal and inevitable part of life. Theirs is an existence ruled over by a powerful theocratic oligarch, though not religious guards, the Velitnitsa are no less capable figures practicing the martial arts.

Living in a dangerous, harsh, and strict world, the Velitla are no less of those things than the world itself. Personifications of their cultures values and virtues they are pious women just as capable of great violence as they are great acts of charity and kindness. The women often pay tribute to the warriors honoring the fallen and caring gently for those dying or soon to face the fronts.

They live under constant threat of eldritch annihilation and genocide from outside forces wrought by creatures of no mercy nor remorse. To stop fighting is to surrender, to allow their home to fall into ruin. With nowhere to run they entrench themselves fighting ferociously on the front lines, even if battles must happen across borders, between towns, or even between two rooms of the same home. May the violence never end.

Madness can take many forms, but none so contemptible as man's belief in a mythology of his own making. A world view buttressed by dogmatic desperation invariably leads to single-minded fanaticism, and a need to do terrible things in the name of righteousness. The Porranians have long since abandoned peace to know only war.

Long before the unification of the Porranian states corruption spread through the lands, a festering blight that corrupted all it touched and twisting life into abominations. The changes were abhorrent and pungent, born from the vile ambition of a bastard goddess Arethconia. Like a parasite she latched herself to the other divines eating their flesh and draining their power as the world fell to ruin.

In the Chaos the Porranians states unified into a towering and domineering force of seething, zealous rage and terrible intent. The first of the Divine Crusades were held, sending the Church and the faithful to hunt down and slaughter anyone and anything affected by the Sarkicism anywhere it can be found. Glorious orders of pious warriors rose to break through the hold of ever more tennebrus beings, a people who would rather watch the whole world burn than see it fall to corruption. The most dangerous weapon of the Porranians being their unwavering conviction, their righteous cause and zealous favor that they pursue having long since accepted death. In Porrus the line that separates madness and bravery has long since been lost, and the line between fervor and self destruction is often blurred.

In the end Arethconia had been defeated but the seeds of her destruction had long since sprouted and gorged themselves on the violence spawning new horrors and shining like a beacon for all in the abyss to see and to be welcomed by.

The Porranian people pray softly to their gods, the aspects of nature that dictate the turn of the world and the continuation of life. The Sun and the Moon, Nature, and War, Knowledge and understanding, and even still they pay tribute to the aspects that died. Fire, Light, and Love, although angels have taken their place in the holy court, they are only echoes of the powers that used to be.
