  • Appearance

    • Overall: Burt is a humanoid wolverine, on the short and stocky side (fun-sized, as he likes to call himself). He's strong and brawny, having been engineered as a super soldier. His fur is thick, but together with his short size and round ears often gets him mistaken for a little bear. He sports a fringe of chestnut hair styled in a sort of elephant trunk.
    • Height: between 5'1'' and 5'2''.
    • Built: stocky, with large shoulders and a broad barrell chest for his size, toned with good muscle tone. He's used to work out, and it shows. Very proud of his large frame, he always wears rolled up sleeves to show his stout but muscular arms. Likes to flex his biceps, especially for the ladies *winks*
    • Hair: He has a tufts of chestnut, slightly wavy hair growing on his head that he keeps tousled and medium length.
    • Fur: Dark brown with black markings and some touches of cream on his forehead and throat. His thick fur covers his body protecting him both from cold, water and frost alike,
    • Eyes: Dark, intelligent and full of mischief.
    • Distinguishing traits: Although most people tend to mistake him for a bear, his muzzle is actually longer and more chiseled. He also has a mouthful of big, sharp fangs, with the tips of pointy canines protruding from beneath his upper lip. Burt is very proud of his semi-retractable claws, longer even than those of feline experiments, and can be often found sharpening them; his claws were a reason of competition with Cris's late husband, and another of the reason why he hates the fellow, since his were even sharper than Burt's and only second to the felines and bears. Finally he has a thick, bushy black tail.
    • Scars: Many, all over his body, but his fur's so thick that it's virtually impossible to see them.
    • Clothing: Burt's wardrobe can be described as "biker on a budget". Until recent times, he used to be tight on money, and even now that Cris has brought him and Daren into high society, the concept of dressing "fancy" is still very much out of his grasp. His favorite clothes include low-cut tank tops, cheap black leather biker jackets and patched-up jeans. He owns a bike helmet decorated to resemble a snarling wolverine, but the painting's scratched off in places and in general it looks like it's seen better days. Also, he wears big stomper boots (to appear taller, and because they're good for kicking ass).
    • Weapon/s: A gun that he loaned from his smuggler friend, and a flamethrower that he took as trophy after a brawl with a band of thugs. He never carries blades with him, not even Swiss knives, as he finds that insulting to his claws.

  • Personality

    If you were to describe Burt in just one word, firecracker would probably be it. He's loud, boisterious, with a natural attraction to brawls and a troublemaking streak that just won't quit. Even with his friends, at times, he likes playing rough, in a "test your might" kind of way. He always speaks loudly, his laugh is uncouth as it can be, he makes all kind of brazen and rude jokes and he's absolutely okay with having the grey morality of a scoundrel. Theft? That's dog eat dog world out there, and HE eats dogs, at breakfast, with cornflakes. Smuggle weapons? Hey, not everyone was so lucky to be born with claws, and people's got to defend themselves. Shoot someone during a brawl? They were looking for it, and it's not his fault if they were too low to draw their fire. Burning cars, vandalizing closed shops? HELL YEAH, baby!
    However, his loose morality hides a bruiser with a soft core. He'll never attack or kill someone who absolutely can't fight back (where's the fun?), he's actually protective toward kids (though he doesn't have as many regard for elderly people), and if he sees a bunch of thugs beating down someone who's injured or in a bad shape, he might just make the fight a bit more _even_ and use them for bowling pins. Rapist better keep their it in their pants or they're gonna sing in falsetto in the hospital choir. Anyone who threatens or - stars forbid - harms his friends? Suddenly it's open season and he's out and about in full Rambo gear. As fearless as he's quick to react, he's a force to be reckoned with, and many people found out the harsh way.
    For how much he likes bickering with his friends, however, Burt is also unsuspectingly loyal and capable of selfless gestures, even if he doesn't like to tarnish his reputation of "tough guy". His past has left him jaded, brine and grit, but he's not heartless. Get on his good side and he's the perfect pal for a booze, a wild racecar, crazy shehaninangs and fun adventures. He's just really, really good at hiding his redeeming qualities behind a snide smirk, a sassy remark or a rude joke.

    Likes: brawls, fights, arm wrestling, trashing stuff, hot women, sex, alcohol, hanging out with his pals, getting under the law's nose, being seen as a badass macho, when people respect him for his claws, bumper cars (even if he tends to get overboard and actually try to DESTROY the other cars and throw them overboard), burning up stuff when he's bored, gambles, living by the day, adventures and the thrill of danger.

    Dislikes: anyone who gives shit to his peers, asshats who don't play fair, being mocked or insulted for his height, being mistaken for a bear, when girls treat him as a cute fluffy plushy, taller men getting the girls he likes, his old boss (with a passion), Cris's late husband (with a FIERCE passion), hounds (not a fan).

    Fear/s: he hates to admit it, but he's still terrified of people in lab coat and surgical instruments after his years as a lab experiment. He tries to conceal his fear beyond aggression and rudeness, but the sight of a lab coat or a scalpel gives him jeebies and rattles him more than he's willing to confess to anyone but Daren and his closest male friends (he'll not show his distress in front of a woman for his LIFE, even if it's Cris).

    Strong points: he's the most reliable guy you'll ever meet, in his unreliable way. Tight on money? He'll rob a bank for you. Need help in combat? He'll tail it only to come back with grenades and nukes. Give grief to every single one of his friends, and he'll come knocking at your door. At night. With his flamethrower.

    Weak points: he tends to be petty and very competitive, especially when it comes to his claws, his height, or his women. And when he gets competitive and petty, he can be mean, even if usually he has the good grace to apologize afterwards.

  • History

    Burt was created artificially as part of an experiment of genetical engineering, based on the old research material that many centuries prior had failed to produce a revolutionary (for its time) chimera specimen, and which would later be finetuned by Leonard Ghertivel. Together with many other anthros from various animal species, he was raised to be a super-soldier, the ultimate biological weapon with the intellect of man and the destructive potential of the wolverine.

    Life in the labs was hell and included a fair amount of torture, especially as form of punishment. Furthermore, the experiments were pitched to fight against each other to demonstrate their value, and even when it was not a fight to the death they'd be left bleeding, aching and in a bad shape. To make it all worse, the tests began when they were still kids, so as to imprint their growing minds with the lessons that they were going to need on the battlefields as adults. The physical scars they all got under their furs were nothing compared to how scarred their minds were. That was until one day the deadliest of them all got majorly out of hand and slaughtered the scientists in a blood-bath. Burt and the other experiments finally got their chance to break free.

    But life outside the labs was not a breeze either. Because of their unusual appearance they found themselves heavily prejudiced and rejected by society. Security from the lab were after them, so was police. Those who didn't scatter and go into hiding, like the herbivores, decided to stick together and become misfits, mercenaries and small-time criminals, under the guidance of the wolf pack. Burt, however, was often at odds with many of his fellows, in no small part due to the many times he'd had to fight with them in the past. His independant and arrogant personality also clashed often with that of the alpha wolf; he disliked taking orders and the two often came to blows. In the end, Burt and his best friend, the owl Daren, decided to leave the pack after the alpha's behavior became more and more deranged, exposing them to unecessary risks for stupid vendettas and without adequate compensation for their trouble.

    Left to their own devices, the two went to live together in a suburban area, even if Daren was openly critical when Burt continued to pursue his activities as a smuggler and small-time delinquent, insisting that it'd be wiser to keep a low profile. Among the occasional fun shehanigan and long moments of boredom where they had to lay low, their life went on until the day they were cornered by some people to whom Burt had smuggled counterfeit technology. What had started to look more and more like a carnage was suddenly overturned, with the odds in Burt and Daren's favor, when a series of robots, a chimera and a masked woman showed up to help.

    At first Burt was distrustful, especially recognizing the woman as the lover of the deadly experiment who slaughtered the scientists. To his surprise, she seemed to hold no ill feelings toward them for their former scrapes and even offered to let him and Daren live in an actual factual mansion for rich people, with credit cards of their own, large badass cars and all the luxuries and comforts that they never knew in their life. The mother of anthro children herself, Cris wanted to fight for fur-folk rights, offering them protection and support. Over time, Burt was won over to her cause and came to consider her a friend... even growing a wide-eyed crush on her, although he knows she's still gaga over her (now dead) husband and doesn't want anyone else in her life.

        "LISTEN, you robot voice, I'm through with ha callin' my 0lave a birdhouse, yeah my pal Daren lives here so? Ya got a problem? YA GOT A PROBLEM?!! Foward me to my pal Sprite NOW before I punch em daylights out of you!! Yeah you heard me right, I WANNA TALK TO MY FRIEND SPRITE! NOW-- who dafuq you called A LEMUR?!! " A snarl followed, and then Burt's voice again calling out, as if trying to be overheard from across a baseball camp: "I gotcha, Sprite!! On me way with booze n Babes & Blaster but while I'm en route I wanna find out whee this annoying robot voice lives n then WE GO TO IT'S PLACE AND PUNCH IT!! It called me a lemur and said I live in a birdhouse!!!""
