Vax

As a child Vax was sold into slavery. His parents were nobles, minor nobles but nobility none the less. He had 3 brothers and 2 sisters and was the oldest of them all. Due to some, unfortunate circumstances. Vax's family found themselves on hard times, the people of the village were beginning to get louder and more aggressive in their complaints about how impoverished their village was becoming and the soldiers who worked for his family were no better than heavy handed thugs. One day, a group of well to do merchants passed through town, or what Vax at the time had assumed to be merchants. They met with his parents and 1 hour later Vax found himself being ordered to leave with these travellers. All while holding a small chest of silver and gold coin. His parents had sold him, their eldest son into slavery simply to escape their debts. Vax was 8 at the time and had no idea the things that were in store for him.

Suffice to say, the man who bought him was not a kind man. He was a court wizard for some high ranking noble. Vax was kept in his home far from the city and each time the man in question came home, would beat and torture Vax in many ways in which he would rather forget. Vax was not allowed to leave the house, luckily he was not confined to a cell and was actually well looked after, when the man was not around. The house staff were all slaves too, they felt sorry for Vax and treated him kindly, made sure he was well fed. Whenever the Wizard held parties at his house, he would sickly introduce Vax as his apprentice. Little did the man know however, he was not technically wrong.

During his free time away from the man. Vax found himself spending more and more time in the mans grand library. Pouring over tomes and scrolls, books of various kinds. It turned out, Vax actually had a talent for magic. Elemental magics became his strongest asset. Though he did and continued to dabble in all manner of other types of magics, wanting to learn as much as possible as well as his endeavour to create new and more powerful spells. By the time he was 12 Vax had calculated that he was actually stronger than this small time court wizard. However, he bided his time. Waited until his 16th birthday and it was then, he murdered the man, the guards who tried to stop him suffered a similar fate and the slaves who had helped him all of these years, he released. He became a wanted man in that kingdom, gathering some books and scrolls of particular worth, as well as gold and anything else he could carry. Vax left, found a quiet spot and now lives his life in the pursuit of magic.
