  • The Virtuoso is not a "killer with a heart of gold" who's just waiting for someone to "show him the error of his ways". He's a killer for hire. He does have a conscience, but he knows what he is. So, while he doesn't need someone to "fix" him, the hope is to find someone who complements him. A hitwoman, but without needing to be "fixed" or "saved" herself, with a conscience, as well. She could be a rival, or even having been sent after him, specifically. Some more specific details are behind the collapse tag below, as they're based on the ending of the film.

    At the end of the movie, we find out that the Waitress was after him all the while. She pulls a gun on him after sleeping with him, saying that the Mentor wanted him to die happy, and the how of it was up to her. She tries to shoot him but the gun doesn't fire. He reveals that he copped the bullet, then says she has a choice. She says, "I know," and shoots him. This time the gun works.

    What I'd really like is that same moment, but she doesn't pull the trigger. What could they do then?
