It was exactly three years ago that the world went to shit and corpses started walking the earth. Everything changed for Kristel and her family at one in the morning. That was when the screams started and awoke Kristel from her slumber with a start. She’d only fallen asleep about thirty minutes prior, seeing as she’d stayed up late in order to revise for a test she had the next day.

She didn’t know what was happening, but could tell it was something serious when the sound of gunshots could be heard coming from every direction. Some were far off in the distance, others were coming from a lot closer…and two came directly from downstairs. As she was getting out of bed, she heard the sound of her mother’s guttural screams.

Running downstairs, she was greeted with the sight of a man looming over her mother, physically tearing her apart and eating her organs. Kristel froze, and if it wasn’t for her father shooting the man in the head, she would have met the same fate. He told her to wake her siblings and take them into the treehouse, and not to come out until he came to get them.

But he never did…

At present, Kristel stands at five foot and seven inches tall, weighing roughly seven stone and nine pounds. Due to the apocalypse and shortages, she hasn’t been able to maintain a healthy weight (often sacrificing her own needs to ensure her siblings do not go without) and as a result is seriously underweight for someone her age and height. Seeing as her body is covered, most people do not notice how visible her ribs are through her skin, or how tiny her wrists are.

Her hair is a dark shade of chocolate brown that reaches just below her breasts in length. More often than not, she will either wear it in a bun or in a ponytail. Despite plenty of warnings, she just can’t bring herself to cut it, for personal reasons she doesn’t like getting into. Her eyes are a light shade of blue.

Kristal is a very determined young woman. When she wants something, she goes for it and doesn’t hold back. Once she’s got her mind set on something, there is very little on this earth that can stop her. She has an unmatched focus when it comes to achieving her goals. Even in the apocalypse.

There is no better person to have on your side in the apocalypse than Kristal. She’s very brave and will run into danger without a second thought, especially when it comes to helping family and friends. She’ll always volunteer to help contribute towards supply runs or tasks.

In a similar manner to her determination, her loyalty is something that cannot be easily broken. If she’s committed to someone, she’ll stick by them through thick and thin. Whilst her trust might be hard to earn, once she trusts someone she’ll dedicate herself to them. Combined with her determination, there is nothing she wouldn’t do for the people she cares about.

Kristal is an upfront and honest individual, and hates dishonesty in others. This also means she can be very stubborn about her views and beliefs, tending to stand her ground and not be open to compromises. This can sometimes come across as controlling to other people. Despite being honest, she can be a bit secretive too, due to her fear of vulnerability and she can be very resentful. She finds it hard to forgive those who have hurt her. Kristal holds a grudge for a long time.
