Matilda Calderon. What a pretty name for such a pretty girl. She was born into the most loving family on earth - at least of you ask herself, and not her older sister Eleanor. The suburbs, what a great place to grow up. A lovely neighborhood, money never being a concern, and Matilda was loved by everyone in the hood. What could possibly have go wrong for her? She was everyone's favorite, and her parents didn’t even try to cover it up as well. Whenever people talked about the Calderon children, Matilda was always the first one to pop up. She was the cutest child, always wearing bows in her hair, wearing the most adorable dresses. Her sister had another reality. There wasn’t put much effort on her daily looks, it could be a simple t-shirt and a skirt. No one could ever really answer what causes the differences between the sisters. No one even cared. And why would Matilda care? She was a darling, everyone's friend, a lovely daughter, always spoken on everybody's lips. She never felt sad, never felt like she should do anything different. Living the perfect life from the very beginning; the perfect story of the perfect girl. And she really was - perfect. Being fierce, strong, independent and just all consuming, lovely from her deepest bones. So what exactly happened? As she grew older, a certain pressure started to trouble her. Coming from a family with parents very much in love, and being the favorite daughter, it was expected her to find someone too. Someone to fall in love with, someone to take him, and raise her children with. That’s what they wanted from her. That’s basically all they cared about in her age as 18 years old. Sure she had had some lovers in her teenage years, but it was never anything serious or longlasting. At the age of 18 it took over, being pressured to settle down and get a boyfriend. That was her problem. That was her only problem. All that pressure, making it impossible to take care of herself or take things in her own time. All they asked her was if she had found a boyfriend yet and what she would call her own daughter. 24 years old, still not in hands with a husband. Convinced she is not capable of it; falling in love. Believe me, she tried. Dating a bunch of guys that weren't even her type, just to try to make her parents satisfied. They never got. Only wanting that one thing from her and when she asked them why it was so important, they told her they wanted her to be just as happy as they were. As if she couldn’t be happy being on her own. For the first time in her life, Matilda felt like a failure. The one thing her parents wanted from her, she was not able to give to them. Sure her options was always big, lots of men stood in line to that this perfect woman and be her test subject in hope that they could change her opinion on love. In time she gave up, and she realized that she was not meant to be with someone and that she would easily be able to take care of herself without any man in the way. Matilda works as a secretary for a lawyer-firm. Sure it bores her, a girl like her needs more to do, but for now, it pays the bills. She does enjoy nights out and meaningless sex; the only kind she has ever tried. A great lover, but an even better friend. She’s funny, loyal and she will kick your annoying (ex) boyfriend’s ass. Always been popular, having a large circle of friends. Once you meet her you will instantly love her; a light of sunshine who can light up your entire day. |
