    Veronica never had much of an easy life. She was born Adam Jones to an abusive Father and an unstable Mother. Things were difficult from the start, though much of her early life is hidden away behind repressed memories. Growing up wasn't easy. She had an older brother, Aiden, and a younger sister, Samantha. Adam and Samantha were like two peas in a pod. If not for the four year age difference, anyone would think they were twins. They were so alike and did everything together. They were the best of friends. Aiden, however, was a different story. As boys, they were raised in an environment where men are men and there was no room for compromise. Any form of weakness or feminity was mocked and stamped out, creating a fear of being anything other than masculine. This ended up causing all kinds of damage to Adam in particular who had to hide and adapt much of who he was in order to avoid abuse from his Father, his brother, and all those around him.

    Adam was lonely. He never found friends easily, or at all really. He was quiet, shy, depressed and filled with anxiety. He was the odd, strange kid, the one everyone bullied constantly. No one wanted to know him, no one wanted to be around him. Hate grew inside of Adam. Not of others, but of himself. Why was he different? Why couldn't he fit in and be like everything else? Why did everything he wanted feel so far away? Constantly lost in his own imagination as a way to hide from the harsh realities, Adam became something of a problem child in school. Though very smart, he lacked motivation and focus, hardly doing any work in school and never managing to hand in any homework. No one knew how to handle him and no one really tried to help. That was how his entire youth played out. He failed everything, couldn't do anything. He was a disappointment. Even in High School, nothing changed. He was quickly singled out, even on the first day. It turns out, his brother, who he never really developed much of a bond with, had actually gotten other students to bully him on the very first day of school, pointing him out to those that would be his classmates. He had no chance. He was doomed from the beginning.

    As expected, Adam failed at school. Afterwards, he went to a college to retake his exams and failed again. Every time he tried to better himself and make something of himself, he failed. It was hopeless. He couldn't do anything for himself, so he focused his efforts on others. He fell in love very quickly and threw himself at others to help them, to get them to succeed where he failed. He made every sacrifice to make others happy, but in the end, he was only used by those that were meant to love him back, discarded once he was of no use any longer. However, his last relationship opened him up to all kinds of possibilities, all kinds of ways of thinking, though it wasn't until it ended and he decided to take time for himself, to think about who he was and what he wanted, that he discovered the truth. His cling to masculinity, his efforts to be the gentleman he thought every man had to be, was just a facade. A defence to protect himself from the truth. He was in fact, a she. It took a lot of time, a lot of thinking, a lot of wrestling with his thoughts and feelings to come to terms with who he was, but eventually, he found his truth, and that was when Veronica was born.

    Learning who she was didn't make things much easier. She was something of a later bloomer, only discovering her truth at the age of thirty. There was little to no support for her, whether from loved ones, or the health service. Veronica was still trapped as Adam, and despite her best efforts, nothing was changing. This brought on a whole new kind of anxiety for her. In her real life, she was Adam with very little different to before beyond the acceptance of herself and her true gender. It was only online that she could express who she really was, where she could be Veronica without restriction. It was then that she finally met people that seemed to truly care for her, though the closer she got to people, the more she felt like she was deceiving them. Eventually, she came clean to those she was closest to, telling them that she wasn't entirely the woman she made herself out to be and that biologically, she was still entirely male. To her surprise, she was accepted. They didn't care, it was the person she was they loved and her body, her anatomy, none of that mattered, she was still Veronica to them. That was the first time she knew what it felt like to be accepted.

    A couple of years later, feeling better about herself thanks to the support of her online friends, Veronica tried again to make something of herself. She enrolled into an online university to study for a bachelor's Degree in psychology. During her first year, she managed to find the support she needed to start treatment for her gender dysphoria. Becoming Veronica was a goal that could be seen, and during her second year of study, it became a reality. After several surgeries and countless hours in counselling, Adam was finally gone and all that was left was Veronica. Now, Veronica was a much happier, much more confident woman. She excelled in her studies and dared to look forward to the future she dreamed of. Everything was looking up, and for once, she allowed herself to believe that her dreams could actually become a reality.
