There is nothing extraordinarily beautiful about Mainyr (pronounced "my-neer"). She could definitely be considered a lovely young woman, but before the effects of her curse, she wasn't known as the fairest in the land or a king's prize. Somewhat plump lips offer a bright smile below blue eyes that like to grow pale in the light; her fair, pale skin is marred here and there by a few small scars from various activities, and dark freckles haphazardly dot one place or another. Her hair is a light brown that could be mistaken as having a reddish hue in sunlight, long and with a slight curl or wave most often. Her figure leans towards full, slight chub lending to a curvy form that's neither overly abundant nor slight but decently proportioned. Her would-be femininity is marred by her habit of going unadorned and unpainted, and her penchant for short nails and somewhat calloused palms. A life in a poor family left her little time and little desire for a wealthy lady's pursuits or fineries. This said, she keeps a good posture and the rough grace of a horsewoman, able to move quietly and unnoticed when she pleases.
After being afflicted with her curse, her human form only appears on nights of the new moon (and on lunar eclipses). In this new moon form, there is a haze of magic about her that seems to add a faint kind of allure to her eyes... they may appear deep, or sparkling as if reflecting starlight. Injuries heal swifter than they would were she still a normal woman, and her steps are lighter -- her strength and speed is also mildly enhanced. On her forehead lies a pale scar where her horn would be in her unicorn form; the scar often has a pinkish hue and takes a star-like shape.

Mainyr often falls on the quiet side, but not out of bashfulness; she prefers to listen in social situations rather than participate in idle chatter. However, among friends or family, she can be quite conversational when speaking on a topic she enjoys or has opinions on. She's also not one to shy away from speaking her mind or backing up an opinion, nor does she hesitate to engage in confrontation should she feel the need. If she doesn't feel the need, however, she tends to observe and remain passive when possible.
Caring and kind, while she may struggle a little to connect socially, Mainyr finds great joy in the care and companionship of animals of just about any kind. Endlessly patient for her furred and feathered friends, she also has a knack for outdoor work and doing things with her hands; helping her father build things, weaving flower crowns, mucking stalls, or sketching with charcoals were all activities she enjoyed before her curse. Quick-witted and keen-eyed, she can learn most things quickly and has always liked to learn and expand her knowledge, even if she's not the most academically-minded.
While she may be hard to grow close to, she is extremely loyal and feels deeply, which is perhaps why she makes it so hard to grow close to her. She craves affection and intimacy but fears it at the same time, though it's hard to say which is stronger -- the fear or the craving.
