he was used to living a life of unpredictability, yet....

He never expected to find himself being hunted down by an order of corrupt cops because he lost himself when a squad of them attacked, slaughtering them with the powers he was so ashamed of. Even less so, a strange twist of events that lead to their leader pardoning him. It was all so...unreal. To the point that Raziel even began to question this reality. For all he knew, it could have just been another elaborate illusion created by Samael, just so the devil could strip it away. It wouldn't have been the first time.

Early in the morning, Raz slipped. He drove for an hour or so, aimlessly turning down one city street or another. Eventually, he pulled into the lot of an abandoned building in the warehouse district of the city he was in and shut off his car. He got out, moving to the front and then lying back on the hood to watch the growing sunrise. A short moment of tranquility.

"You're catching on to these quicker."

A voice sounded from beside Raziel. One familiar, laced with malice, yet soft with fake affection at the same time.

"Might have to try harder next time."

The hunter's breath hitched, and he let out a shudder. He didn’t need to look over to know who was there. A being that looked just like him, but with scarlet, glowing eyes.

" You're not real."

He said, his voice barely audible. The undertone of fear well hidden.

"On the contrary, bunkbuddy. I'm very real."

Samael let out with a dark chuckle.

"And this stops only one way. When you say one little three letter word starting in Y and ending in E S."

"I-its never going to happen."

He said, quickly slipping off the car and taking a few steps away.

"I stopped you from starting the Apocalypse, and I won't let you try again."

There was a long moment of silence.

"Hmm….that's too bad….guess when I decide to end this little game, I'll have to punish yourself twice as hard as normal. For saying no to me."

The Devil warned, and then it was silent.

The dirty blonde let out a shuddering breath when he felt Samael's presence vanish, and sank back against a wall. He wasn't sure how much more of this he could take.

With his back to the bars, Raziel glared at the fallen archangel before him. A new gash on his cheek spilt blood down his face and neck, staining the already dirty bandage around his throat. One of Samael's favorite things to do was take Raziel apart slowly, bit by bit, and then bandage him up. Just so Raz could feel the pain of healing, The devil had said. Raziel couldn't die here, at least not really. He was already dead. He was trapped in Samael's Cage with Satan himself.

"F-fuck you!"

Raziel shouted, pushing as much anger as he could into his voice. But it didn't hide the fear. Samael simply grinned with a tilted head, crossing his arms.

"Maybe later, but, uh, the other way around. First, I want you to tell me something."

The fallen angel lifted a hand so he could rest his chin in his palm, still tilted, with those red eyes still trained directly at the hunter.

"It's been what, 1,000 years, so far? How in the hell are you still so defiant? You already know that everyone you left behind hated you. I mean, you single handedly let me out and started the Apocalypse. Do you seriously still think that any of them care enough to actually try to save you?"

Raz grimaced at the words, and looked away. It was true, or at least he believed it was. He believed that Dale, Bobby, Gabriel, Balthiel, everyone left topside hated his guts. That they only tolerated him out of pity. That's why he was willing to sacrifice himself to lock Samael back up. If he was gone, he couldn't hurt anyone anymore.

The hunter didn't see Samael step forward. He flinched when the archangel reached out and took his chin in a bloody hand. He forced Raziel to look up at him, though the hunter still trained his gaze elsewhere.

"Or is it?"

Samael began.

"That you purposely piss me off, because deep in that twisted mind of yours, you know you deserve the punishment?"

Multi-colored eyes met red ones, and Raziel gave a bit of a grin.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night."

The hunter growled before spitting in the angel's face. The Devil snarled.

"Mark my words, Raziel. I Will break you. And I might just take you up on that offer."

With that, Raziel suddenly woke with a panicked scream. He bolted upright in his motel bed, his breathing an uncontrolled staccato. He glanced wildly around the room, gathering his bearings. Once assured it was only a dream, he began working on calming his panic.

Once his breathing was under control, he pulled his knees to his chest while resting his back against the headboard. He struggled to hold back tears. As the morning sun began to filter through the motel curtains, he hoped beyond hope that he was really here, and not in the Cage anymore. He prayed that this was real, and not some elaborate illusion created by Samael, again, as a means of torture.
