      "Verlegen saw the bumbles and gasped. "Oh! Oh! Bees!" He had excitement in his high-pitched voice, stifling the instinct to bounce on his heels.

      He saw Ilyana and blushed embarrassedly, realizing that she had probably seen him react like that. "Um, sorry, I just..got.. a little happy to see these. I really like bees, I was around them my entire childhood." He said, arms behind his back, face red, but his voice warm just the same.      "

        "Ilyana adjusted her magicked glasses so she could read what Verlegen was saying, all while she was riding atop a very large bumble, Bweep. Luckily, everything came out just right for her!

        "Oh my goodness, you too!?" Her hands went to her own cheeks as she smiled. "How come? Were your family members beekeepers?"

        Just then, she gestured widely behind her.

        "There is a shrine to the god of shepherds, Api, on the road to the city of Zoza-Mal. Were you headed there?" She leaned forward, eager in her questions. "Are you a monster hunter?""

          ""My grandfather is a beekeeper, he's the one who introduced it all to me." Verlegen stated, then glanced to look at what Ilyana had gestured, seeing the big shrine. "Oh! I wasn't originally, but you see, I'm pants with directions and, ha ha, I get lost easily." Verlegen awkwardly laughed.

          Verlegen raised a brow at the monster hunter comment. "I'm not a monster hunter, but I am a freshman student at Ovest Academy." He smiled warmly.          "

            "Ilyana frowned slightly, putting her hands to her hips.

            "Oh, no, no! This will not do at all. We cannot have children all by themselves out here. It is quite dangerous, you see. There are many large monsters in between Zoza-Mal and the Last Resort. They like to gobble up all kinds of smallfolk."

            She hummed for a moment, tapping her chin.

            "Well. . . I can use a spell to teleport you back to Ovest Academy. You just have to make one teensy, tiny little deal with me. Okay?""

              "Verlegen shuddered at the comment of the monsters liking to gobble up smallfolk. "A deal? What did you have in mind?" He asked in a soft voice, putting his hands behind his back once again."

                  "Verlegen was confused by the sudden compliment, "Oh! Um, well thank you.." He got flustered.

                  "What.. what should I give you in return for the spell? I have some candy made of honey in my pockets, and a few pieces of paper that I folded, they're blank so you could use them."

                  Verlegen stated, oblivious to the fact that the eye comment was.. probably implying Ilyana wanted something involving his eyes.                  "

                    "Ilyana blinked once before laughing heartily, leaning back as she did so.

                    "No, no, silly! I do not want candy or paper! Trust me, I can acquire a lot of both of those for a very low price. Or for free, if I felt like making candy. So that stuff is pretty much useless to me."

                    Dreamily, she rested her chin in the heels of her palms.

                    "I already know what I want. I want your eye color. I want to take that precious red shade and save it to my collection to wear as I please." Just as she blinked, her eyes flickered into a hazel-green color. "You would not mind, would you? Something as silly as an eye color is not super important to you, is it?"

                    Blinking again, her eyes became a soft brown color. These were very likely colors she took in a deal herself."

                      "Verlegen took a step back, his eyes widening. "Oh.. My.. My eye color?" He asked, his voice cracking slightly.

                      He looked around, wondering if he should just try and find his way back to Ovest Academy himself, then looked back at Ilyana, "What will happen to my eyes after?" He quietly said, a worried tone in his voice.                      "

                        "As if this was a common occurrence, Ilyana simply waved a hand.

                        "Oh, you will not have an eye color, of course. Your irises will be gone. I would think about giving it back later after I borrowed it for a while, but red eyes are just so pretty. . . you understand, do you not?"

                        Just then, she leaned forward and tilted her head.

                        "If you do not want to share your eye color, can I have a tooth? It will be entirely painless! You see, human teeth are very highly prized among the fey as currency. I could get so many things with just one tooth! So, can I? Do you have any impacted wisdom teeth? Surely you are not using those. I mean, you have a lot of teeth! You cannot be using all of them, are you?"

                        Settling back on Bweep, she sighed.

                        "Or. . . I guess I could settle for a pimple, too. I am only sending you back home, after all." She squinted at him. "Do you have acne anywhere? I mean, surely you do. You look pretty young. And young humans who have hit puberty get acne all the time, right?""

                          "Verlegen thought it would be scary to have no irises, and then was bombarded with the tooth question.

                          That's when Verlegen realized that this woman was a fairy. He opened his mouth, getting ready to speak, when she interrupted with the pimple question, just confusing him further, and in-fact, Verlegen got flustered again and took another step back, raising his hand to his cheek at the mention of the acne.

                          "I.." His voice cracked again, "I mean I do, but, why, why would you need it?" He stuttered again. "I guess if it can get me home.." He glanced off to the side, awkwardly, trying to avoid eye-contact, especially after the eye color thing.                          "

                            ""Because fey do not get acne," Ilyana answered quite simply. "Our skin stays clear and beautiful all the time. Because of this, pimples go for a fair price in the bazaar. Not as much as teeth, though. . ."

                            The last bit was mumbled, but she carried on without missing a beat.

                            "Come on, show me where it is. It will be painless, I promise!""

                              "Verlegen didn't want to ask anymore questions, because even if they were answered, he'd still be confused and want to ask even more questions.

                              He pushed back his blonde hair to reveal a small area of acne on his cheek. "He..Here." He quietly said, almost so quiet that Ilyana probably couldn't hear him.                              "

                                "Humming as though this was a casual occurrence, Ilyana reached over and used a long nail to gently brush under the pimple. Except it didn't hurt at all. In fact, she peeled the thing off as though it were a lightly-applied sticker. It felt about the same as well.

                                "All done!" She stuck the pimple, which now looked like some kind of special-effects attachment, into one of her pouches. "I will not be rich, but it is enough."

                                Beaming, she turned back to the boy.

                                "Are you ready to go home?""

                                  "Verlegen was worried it would hurt, but it.. didn't, much to his surprise. "Oh, that was all? You were right, it was painless." Verlegen said.

                                  "Yes, I am ready to go home." Verlegen nodded, "You are odd, but you are nice. I hope we meet again one day." Verlegen put his arms behind his back.                                  "

                                        "Ilyana seemed to ponder this for a while too long.

                                        "Nope. I do not think so. You are exactly right! I am different than most fey, I think."

                                        But just then, with surprisingly speed, she leaned in so close to Verlegen's face that their noses almost touched. Her gaze hardened, returning to her original yellow color.

                                        "Do not take my kindness for granted, little boy."

                                        Casually, as though nothing happened, she leaned back and smiled.

                                        "Here we go!"

                                        Her hands curled in front of her, forming claw-like motions as though tearing something opened. She strained for a moment before tearing, like a piece of cloth, could be heard behind Verlegen. Lo and behold, she tore a hole in the fabric of reality itself, revealing Ovest Academy on the other side.

                                        "There!" She grinned, content with her work. "Oh, before that. Did you want to leave anything for Old Api?""

                                          "Verlegen was about to speak, when Ilyana got close to his face, their noses almost touching, and of course he got startled, as usual.

                                          When she leaned back after her comment, Verlegen stood frozen for a moment, before ignoring what just happened.

                                          He watched Ilyana claw through the air, and revealing a tear in the fabric reality, the big, tall, Ovest Academy on the other side. "Oh!" He turned around quickly, amazed with this. He glanced back at Ilyana.

                                          "Well, like I said, I do have some candy made of honey. Would Old Api care for that?" He warmly laughed, "Or some paper.""

                                            "Ilyana's smile wilted as she watched the boy laugh while he offered utterly worthless objects to her god. It was then she realized the depth of his selfishness; he'd never be willing to give up anything that held value to anyone but himself.

                                            "Actually!" She grinned again - it didn't reach her eyes. "Maybe it is best you just go."

                                            The portal stayed open and Ilyana's words vaguely sounded more like a warning than a statement. There were monsters lurking here, after all. . ."

                                              ""Oh." Verlegen sensed the vaguely placed warning in her words, and instantly felt wary. "Right.." He quietly said, looking at the portal.

                                              "Goodbye now!" Verlegen then stepped into it, and turned his head to catch one last glimpse of Ilyana before the portal would close and he'd be back where he belonged."
