Life in the woods.

  • Growing up

    So, you still with me after that horribly depressing read? If you are still reading this, then know I am officially dubbing you a pervert. Anyways, The Twelveswood, beautiful, majestic, and by the Twelve boring. Do not get me wrong, I love the woods with its many creeks and rivers and creatures. The songs of the forest and smells I will always treasure and reflect on fondly.

    But, when the only person who talks to you is the Conjueror guild master, life can be pretty boring and dull. I wasn't mistreated, at least physically. I was provided for, a small cabin, taught how to farm like many Gridanians are taught. I was given an education befitting a Padjal, even if many of my own kind disliked me for reasons I was ignorant to. Was it upsetting I was glared at? And spoken to harshly by many? Sure, but none ever aid a hand on me, and most ignored me. In my solitude I had learned to read people's body language, which is so much more vocal or as vocal as words can ever be.

    To say though I was happy, well, I wasn't not happy, sad to be sure, but what child would not be sad when nobody wanted to play with you? My master always had a sadness to him when I was around, he tried to tell me he was fine, but I knew it had something to do with me. After all, one could only be told, indirectly by loud whispering, that they are a Void-Demon so many times before even a child knows they are different.
    But, despite this, I loved Gridania. Sure, it was hard living there at times, especially with no parents. But, I never went without, and despite it all, the Seed-Seer was always kind to me. When I turned ten though, all of that would change.

  • Books over Magic

    So, I can genuinely say I am not Master E-Yumi's favorite student. I couldnt weave a cure spell or Esuna to save my red-headed behind In fact, I can barely conjure any aether outside of the Void I possessed, which I had no idea what the black and purple energies that emitted from my hand when I got upset or mad.

    So, I was ostracized even more, a Padjal who could not use magic. The laughing stock of all Padjali kind.

    Well, magic to me is overrated, after all, I would love to see someone chant a spell with a bullet piercing their heart! ha! Wow, I got dark real quick. At some point, I cannot tell you exactly when, I became invested in both history and Archaeology, and despite how I was treated, I wanted to help those who got hurt. So, with much pleading, puppy-dog eyes, and stealing my master's Crook-staff, he got me educated in Chirugeon-academics. If I could not heal the lazy way with magic, I could heal, treat poisons and operate the old fashioned non aether way. I mean, how many do you know who can say they have pumped a man's heart, literally, back to life? Me that's who!

    I took to the healing craft and my delicious craving for unearthing and studying the past, archaeology and linguist like a gold fish. I got lost in learning about ages past, of Astral eras of eld, its my desire to go out and explore the world you see, unearth ancient civilisations that we, as a society have forgotten about. I know its good to look to the future, but we cannot forget the past, either.

    As I got older, growing into my teen years, my thirst for knowledge had become insatiable. I like to consider myself a student of all sciences, I love to learn about anything and everything, from Machinist, Magitek, Aetheric-studies, the Void you name it. I can't recall how many books I had stolen from the Gridanian Library, just so I could learn about yesterday.

    My quest for knowledge, also carried over to Chirugeon. I hate to see people suffer, though I cannot heal with aether, I strove to become the best Chirugeon I could be. I do not get, even as I write this entry, how people can so easily hurt and inflict death with little thought or care. I;ve seen grown warriors, seasoned soldiers weep and pray when they are bleeding out. You see, I don't know if its because of the Void Demon I host or not, but I can absorb the pain of others, take their pain unto me, giving them sweet relief. I can honestly say I know what it feels like to die without dying, there is very few words I could use to accurately describe what its like to die, just that, if someone could feel a fraction of what I have felt, maybe more swords would get sheathed and spears dropped.

  • Learning the truth

    The Void, there is so little we know about it. Volatile, wild, destructive, it does not discriminate, cold and merciless. And yet, I do not believe in my bones that the Void is evil. At least, not like those dirty Ala Mhigans who started the Autumn war. And, before you balk at how I view Ala Mhigans, I am referring to the ones who are dead, the ones who tried to conquer my people.

    I know the Void hungers for aether, always hungry and in pain. I know this because I got one living inside of me and not paying rent. Well, that's not true, on the rent part. You see, whenever I was in danger, which was often as I am accident prone. I always had a shadowy beast who protected me. Sometimes the beast took on the form of a purple and black Falcon-lanner. Other times, a hulking black and red Couerl that would tear apart anyone or thing threatening me. But, no matter who it ate, I was always safe with whatever form it took.

    You see, my seal is not full proof, if I get mad, scared or upset, to such an extent, the seal on my hand weakens and some of the Void can leak out. I nearly peed my knickers when I first saw the giant Couerl tear apart a monster that wanted to have Padjal for breakfast. And yet, despite its ferocity and the hungering pain I could feel coming from it, identical to when i get hangry. I knew this creature would not hurt me. I could hear someone or thing whispering to me, crazy sounding right? That it would protect me. And protect me it did, it wrapped itself around me like I was its cub until my master found me asleep next to the very same Void-Demon, or at least, part of its essence, sleeping soundly. I was told my Master did poo his pants in fright when the creature or Void I named Bastet snarled at him.

    Needless to say, I was hurt, crushed, angry, confused and everything else a thirteen year old could feel when they are told that their entire life they contained a Greater Void Demon inside of them that had killed two Padjal, one being a White-mage. Needless to say, I got my very own guardian in the form of a Void-Demon. And you may call me crazy, but I do like to consider Bastet as my oldest and truest friend. I guess I feel this way because when I found out the truth, Gridania, its leaders, and my Master lost my trust that has yet to be repaired.
