Sadie Matthews

One wouldn't know it now, but Sadie used to be a rather vivacious little girl. Some adults might have even said slightly problematic. She always liked to make other kids in class laugh. Her parents always thought she would grow up to be an entertainer. After a while, teachers found methods that helped her focus on the schoolwork, or at least keep her quiet long enough to let everyone finish. One day, a particular substitute was having none of it.

The teacher had put into the lesson plan what to do, if Sadie became rowdy, but the nasty woman ignored it completely. Instead, she opted to pull the little girl out of her desk and up to the front of the class. In front of everyone, the substitute proceeded to yell at her, humiliating her in front of all of the students. There had been several complaints about the woman, before, but with everyone down the hall able to hear her berating a six-year-old, the principal immediately kicked her out.

Needless to say, Sadie was never the same. She became extremely self-conscious, never spoke out of turn or hardly ever, and avoided extracurriculars. Still, she graduated high school with top marks and started taking her interest in art more seriously.
