Undertow

Who I am stems from where I came from. It is a tale heard by most, which is why I was hidden in it so completely.

Shall we begin at the beginning?

Triton, a merman, demigod of the sea; was the son of the sea god, Poseidon, and his wife, Amphitrite. Triton dwelt with his parents in a golden palace in the depths of the sea. He was represented as human down to his waist, with the tail of a fish. Triton’s special attribute was a twisted seashell, on which he blew to calm or raise the waves and control the winds. He also has the ability to survive underwater indefinitely, and the ability to withstand the temperature and pressure of ocean depths. His vision is more sensitive to the green portion of the visible spectrum, enabling him to see in relatively dark ocean depths.

The trident is the weapon of Poseidon, the god of the sea, and was replicated and gifted to Triton when he was a lad so he could follow in his father’s footsteps and, someday, rule in his place.

Triton was his father in miniature and became king of the sea when his father, Poseidon, had to leave because of a fight between him and his brother Neptune (who looks almost identical to King Triton).

Once he became the King ofvthe Sea, Triton married his childhood best friend, Athena, daughter of Zeus. Athena was quickly accepted as the Queen of Atlantica, and beloved by her family and subjects. She was noted for her singing talent and her love of music. Together, Triton and Athena had eight children. Seven daughters: Andrina, Arista, Aquata, Adella, Alana, Attina, and Ariel. Then one son, Triton, named after his proud father - this would be me. Triton (Jr) was to follow in his father’s footsteps the same way Triton (Sr) followed in Poseidon’s.
