Knowing she'd need help in escaping, Zara decided to purchase a slave, in hopes of befriending them and give them a better life. As she made her way through the slave market, her heart sank at the sight of so many people being bought and sold like mere objects. She knew she had to keep her emotions in check, though, and maintain the cruel façade that her people expected of her. Walking by a group of slaves, her eyes caught sight of a young half-elf woman with striking red hair and blue eyes. She noticed a scar going over her left eye, but it was still functional. Sinova's heart ached as she looked at her, imagining what kind of life she had led up to this point. But she quickly composed herself and walked over to the slave trader.

"How much for the half-elf?" she asked, her voice cold and emotionless.

The trader, a balding man with a sneer on his face, looked the half-elf over before replying, "Fifty gold pieces. She's a feisty one, but I'm sure you can handle her."

Sinova nodded, counting out the gold coins and handing them over to the trader. The half-elf looked up at her with a mix of fear and defiance in her eyes, but Sinova simply sneered back, not wanting to arouse suspicion.

As she led the half-elf away from the slave market, Sinova couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for her actions. She knew that her new faith in Eilistraee would not condone the owning of another person, but she needed to maintain her cover until she could figure out a way to free Alkaid and make amends.

"So, half-elf," she said, addressing Alkaid for the first time. "What's your name?"

The woman looked up at Sinova with a scowl on her face, but didn't answer.

"I said, what's your name?" Sinova repeated, a note of impatience in her voice.

"Alkaid," the half-elf muttered, still looking defiant.

Sinova nodded, taking note of the name. "Well, Alkaid, you're mine now. And I expect you to do exactly as I say, or you'll regret it."

Alkaid's eyes narrowed, but she didn't respond. Sinova could tell that she was trying to figure her out, to understand why someone from her own people would purchase her as a slave.

Over the next few weeks, Sinova found herself drawn to Alkaid's strength and resilience. Despite the terrible circumstances she found herself in, Alkaid never gave up, always fighting to maintain her dignity and self-respect. Sinova knew that she couldn't let Alkaid continue to suffer, but she also knew that she needed to be careful not to reveal her true feelings or put them both in danger.

It wasn't until one night, as they sat by the fire after a long day of work, that Sinova decided to reveal her true intentions.

"Alkaid, I need to tell you something," she said, her voice soft and hesitant.

Alkaid looked up at her, suspicion written all over her face. "What is it?" she asked warily.
