Slender with a crown of crow's black hair and emerald, green eyes, quite as a mouse, not much gets past the clever little girl.

Gwyn is the fourth child born to the innkeeper of Forestedge. That puts her right in the middle of his little brewed. Rebecca, William, Sarah, GWYN, Pepper, Jane and Emma. Gwyn loves her family very much and is very close to her oldest sister, Rebecca. Gwyn was actually with Rebecca when her gift first reviled itself. For fear of the other villagers seeking to harm the girl, Gwyn's family kept her gift a secret. But as she got older it became harder and harder to control. And finally, Sarah, who had, had only 4 beautiful years of being the youngest and never forgave her younger siblings for being born and ruining that, particularly Gwen, spitefully let it slip to one of her friends that her sister was cursed and bewitched.

That very night the innkeeper put Gwyn and Rebecca on a horse and told his oldest child to get Gwyn somewhere safe. Gwyn remembers that her father and mother both smelled like fresh bread when they hugged her goodbye. She remembers her mother could not stop the tears from coming. She remembers the feel of the bone knife her brother, William, pushed into her hands. She remembers Sarah's scowl, mad that once again Gwyn was getting 'all the attention'. Little did Sarah know Gwyn would happily give it all up to stay with her family. She remembers the kisses on the cheek she got from Pepper, Jane and Little Emma. Then they were off into the night galloping away from everything Gwyn knew. Rebecca took Gwen to the only place she knew her little sister would be accepted, the Order of the Silver Phoenix. But when they agreed to take the girl, they would not let Rebecca come too. Only those with the gift were welcome.


So, the very last thing Gwyn remembers from that ordeal was Rebecca's woolen tunic scratchy against Gwyn's cheek as her sister hugged her goodbye. Rebecca made Gwyn promise to Studie hard and be good. In return Rebecca promised that one day they would be together again.
