Just as the Zykla can manifest their Bloodforce, So too can they maintain and manipulate its shape. This Ether, this Glittering Mist may be drawn to dance upon the Zykla's palm in every ghostly shape its caster should need to conjure. Be it for entertainment or illustration of their own myths and legends, this skill will be common to all Zykla though their echos are motionless. Emberstorm
It is a troublesome manifestation of bloodforce. A surge that rides on the back of fear. Conjured by the rush of adrenaline and the Zykla's fight for flight response escapes a nasty reaction of bloodforce. With a simple flick of the wrist, a cast of the hand, or a thrown open palm brings the full weight of a Zykla's bloodforce upon their target. In a blink of an eye, a cloud of bloodforce collects into a painfully bright light, condensing in on itself until it erupts into a vibrant flash and a thunderous boom to stir the Gods themselves. Though non-lethal, this explosive retort will damage and disorientate a target's senses. None are spared the flash, not even the Zykla if they don't take prior care to their casting. |
Tainted Nullification
Used to prey over their own kind, Nullification stands as a direct counter to other arts of Bloodforce. While slow to prepare, this power will restrain the victim's Bloodforce reserves and effectively starve out a Zykla in mid-cast and shall continue to deny their use of their abilities for several hours or even days. While Nullification is burdensome for use in engagement, Zykla have made their name in preparing their snares whilst stalking their would-be victim. Syphon
An obscure ability unique to some Zykla, Syphon may be used to tap into and draw away the Bloodforce of another. For good or for ill, The act will leave it's discoloring mark upon the victim's hide and fundamentally disrupt their ability to harvest fresh replacement for as little as a few days to as much as a full week. While it can be used through casting Bloodforce upon another Zykla at a distance, this method takes time and focus where so much1 as a single embrace could very well drain a Zykla instantly. Umbral Blight
The consistency of Umbral Blight is distinct and unlike other abilities. Akin to adhesive dust, the wisps have a heavier appearance. Fluid and gracefully the wisps spindle from the Zykla's fingertips; floating momentarily before the wisps gradually descend and ultimately settle onto a surface. Its potency remains until it is either touched or washed off. Umbral Blight can be delivered in food, by liquid, or it can be applied to weapons, trap components, and items that create piercing damage. Since bloodforce doesn't have a scent or taste, it is nearly undetectable, which only makes this ability even more dangerous. Contact: Any target that makes contact with the poison with exposed skin will suffer its effects: Dilated Pupils, Blurred Vision, Dizziness, and Nausea. Contact with Umbral Blight isn't fatal but will leave the afflicted party out of sorts for a day or two after the effects have worn off. Ingesting & Injury: Any target that ingests or otherwise becomes internally afflicted with Umbral Blight will suffer similar, if not more severe symptoms to contact victims. However, in addition to the Dilated Pupils and Nausea, a target will also become debilitated by onsets of Fever, Delirium, Dehydration, and Labored Breathing. If left untreated the severity of symptoms will continue to escalate until the target succumbs and ultimately escapes to death's embrace. |
Passive Glitterdust
A side effect of using Bloodforce, trace elements of the wisp can remain caught in the Zykla's fur even after all available Bloodforce has been spent. They are often seen being cast away by shaking or other swift movements, but cannot be rubbed, combed, or washed out. The Glitterdust will fade on its own in time. Bloodforce is not an elemental ability. It does not draw power from the fire, air, water, and earth of the Physical world, and can only affect them when used upon them already existing. The Bloodforce manipulates the physical realm on a macro level, but cannot change the physical makeup of any object. Wisps
When the Bloodforce is utilized by a Zykla, a colored aura will emanate from the user's fingertips. Directly connected to the ability being used by the Zykla and will follow the manipulation as it carries out. It has been observed, that the Wisp can also spill from the mouth with exhales. |
Strength
Moonlit nights, Any Eclipse, Rainy days/Seasons, Any Eclipse Despite the Zykla's deity, their abilities are slightly amplified at night when Luna is closest. Additionally, their abilities will be amplified during any eclipse. |
Weakness
Droughts & Dry climates Warm & Dry climates, such as deserts dampen a Water Zykla's abilities, as water seems to be more scarce. If the water is wielded too long without use, it'll gradually start to lose its form and trickle out of the Kala Zykla's control. If the ability utilizes frost, this runs the risk of the casting Zykla becoming a victim of frostbite. [See maximum duration] |
Bubble Buddy
A bubble of air veils the casting Zykla's face, allowing them to breathe underwater for 30 minutes, no matter their depth! But be warned, once the bubble dissipates, it's up to them to reach the surface! |
Water Sphere
A palm-sized sphere of water easily morphed into the casting Zykla's desired shape. Used for little tricks and entertainment, or crafted to separate into small pellet shape projectiles with a sharp edge for protection or hunting. Damage done with the water sphere is minor, but enough to cause a distraction at this level. [Number of projectiles: 3 - diminish 10 seconds after making contact] |
Water Shield
A dome-shaped shield of water large enough to cover the casting Zykla's body, protecting them from most small projectiles being thrown their way. Sheid is also resistant to fire but will falter if heavy or large objects collide against it. Be wary, as this shield doesn't protect the casting Zykla from another person entering the dome. Minor Healing
No matter the skill level a Kala Zykla has, healing takes a lot of concentration and can be easily disrupted. If their concentration is broken, the healing process must start again. As a novice, Kala Zykla, healing is a bit of a chore, but can be accomplished! Novice Kala Zykla will need to move the injured into a pool of water to be semi-submerged as they do not currently have the ability to use water from a vessel. With the help of their bloodforce, the water is then moved to focus on the injury which then emits a warm and tingling sensation as it speeds the healing process of both minor flesh wounds and minor broken bones. If the victim is a Zykla, the Kala Zykla's healing abilities will amplify the healing enzymes produced from their tar glands that are already within the Zykla's body. |
Coastal
🌊 Webbed Paws: Coastal Zykla have webbed back paws, not the traditional fish or otter webbing mind you, but more akin to water bred dogs. The webbing aids in swimming, helping them to cut through the water like butter. 🌊 Swimmer's Tail: Tails function similarly to a rudder, aiding in swift turns in the water. Xi'li does not suffer weakened strength in her tail, due to her Volcanic gene contributions; in fact, her tail is considerably stronger for her having to work twice as hard. 🌊 Fur: Their fur is shorter on both their tail and body, suitable for tropical climates. The fur is double-layered and produces more oil to make the fur waterproof but not water-resistant. Brushing is the way to maintain not only the oil in their fur but to make sure air breaches through both layers of fur; air bubbles are crucial to further aiding insulation. 🌊 Ears, Lungs & Nose: The ear has extensive vasculature to facilitate the equilibration of air pressure from the ears and sinus. Water is prevented from entering the sinus through the nostrils as their nose closes for dives. Their lungs are reinforced (peripheral airways) and are postulated. 🌊 Metabolism & Heart: Coastal Zykla have a high metabolism, and often need to eat copious amounts to maintain their body’s ability to function beneath the waves. Once beneath said waves, their heart rate slows to accommodate oxygen management. |

Volcanic
🌋 Numb Pads: The Volcano Zykla's pads are particularly durable and resilient to the scorched ground they tread. By early childhood, nerves have been burned out, leaving the Zykla's pads utterly numb to the heat beneath them. This has resulted in adults who can quickly tread across ground so hot that it would peel the sole from the underside of someone's boot. 🌋 Leaping Legs: Due to the nature of their biome, Zykla of the Region often have to leap across deadly magma rivers and take refuge on any stable stone or boulder available for sanctuary. Sprinting has given way to a series of precise and powerful leaps, long jumps that carry their runners over lethal grounds and unto safety. 🌋 Radiant Tails: Heat Exhaustion is a constant concern due to the overwhelming temperatures of their environment. For many, simple behaviors like panting while at rest or sprawling out have become commonplace including an almost unconscious habit of wafting their tails behind them. The whipping of their fur through cooler air acts to radiate out excess heat and cool their bodies down whenever possible. 🌋 Tar: Far from pure, the volcanic, soot-choked air passes for just barely breathable and has tainted the Volcano-dwelling Zykla. Their throats and lungs have adapted to the harsh air of their home, and while not immune to deadly fumes that billow from the drifting lava pools they are able to endure them. Their bodies have co-opted their tar-saliva as a means of filtering out and expelling both the ash and poisons that might otherwise be absorbed through their throat and lungs. As a consequence, the Tar they produce is particularly vile and perhaps even deadly if it's toxic makeup is allowed into another's body. |
