He became Hecate to protect himself. Once the wonder of his new home wore off, he understood that he had to survive. Whatever the cost, he would be Hecate and his plan was to get out of this alive. At the tender age of six, he met his new little sister and his need to protect himself extended to her as well. He saw how gruesome Miss Davis would treat Circe, and whenever he could, Hecate tried to lessen the blows.
As the years passed by, Hecate began to forget who he used to be and the dreams he had had of who he could have become. A bitterness formed in him projected onto other people who got to live their lives as they saw fit. This was simply his lot in life, no matter how much he resented it. Nobody could do that him and Circe could, Miss Davis told him. It had to be the two of them.
