There is an air about Sam that cannot be denied. He walks with a swagger that comes naturally and never had to be perfected. His voice is as smooth and deep as the bayou he hails from. There is a mysterious aura surrounding him and yet one can feel completely at ease around him if he wills it. Sam takes his job very seriously and treats all of his “clients” with respect. Professionalism is his priority while handling the dead and it is quite obvious that he loves his job. Off the clock, however, his stately appearance gives way to his colorful roots. He doesn’t shy away from flashing those many tats he has. Velvet coats, silk scarves, leather vests, beaten jeans, and so many chains is what he wears while at play. Smokey blues joints, intimate poetry readings, and the occasional club is where you can find him most Saturdays if he isn’t on call (which is often).

General Attitude: It is surprising to most how approachable Sam is on the job and off. He gives off a calm that puts those around him at ease. As stated, he is extremely professional in his work life and often advocates for those who cannot advocate for themselves (the dead). Outside of work, he is charming despite his intimidating “rockstar” appearance. Sam will always lend an ear to those who need it and offer help when called upon (if it is deserved). However, he lives a very “quid pro quo” lifestyle. Those he lends help to are often held to a high standard and he will not hesitate to drop any who fail to uphold their end of the friendship. His zero tolerance for flakiness is just a glimpse to a darker side that is often hidden to many. This side is cold and calculated. He keeps a running tab for those who slight him and it is quite ironic that those who do are met with bad luck… Some cases more severe than others. He has had connections to many who are involved in “unfortunate accidents” and it is something that has baffled and frustrated the city’s finest (of whom he often works alongside with). Still, his upstanding professional reputation has convinced most if not all that he lends his help to those who, in the end, cannot help themselves and meets their demise prematurely.

Another foil to his darker side is his philanthropy work. While most wait for the holiday season to give, Sam is well known among the charities around the city. He seems to gravitate towards organizations that help children and babies, especially those in hospitals. It is not unusual to find him playing guitar to those tiny patients in the children’s wing of the city hospital. This leads to many wondering if he ever had children himself. To which, he would simply smile and smoothly say “they’re all my children.”
