Neither of the Caldwell brothers talk about what their lives used to be. Allegedly, they took whatever money their family had, purchased two horses, three revolvers and a rifle before setting off into the vast unknown. They became petty criminals, falling in with different gangs, though they never hung around for too long. It seemed that they didn't fit in well in bigger groups, though a life on the road was what made sense for them.

It was an accident more than anything, that Rowan came across a wanted poster. Seeing the price of the target, he took it to his brother and falling into a life of freelancing bounty hunting was easy for the both of them. It meant they spent time on the road, though were still forced to return to civilization more often than not. They didn't find themselves short of work, however.
