Valerie grew in a complicated family. Money was never an issue, but love was. She's the oldest of 4, which means she was the one whom was most left alone. Her parents were controlling; they locked her in her room or gave her pills that made her fall asleep, so they didn't have to take care of her. When Valeries younger brother was born, it was her job to sit him. At an age of 2, she had to take care of her newborn brother. Her parents never thought of hiring a babysitter, honestly they didn't care. As older she always found a reason to smile. She told her friends about how happy she was and she never showed her real emotions, but when she got home she would lock the door to her room and cry for hours. She didn't like being at home, which means that school became her escape. She was a depressed teenager, but no one found out. She was good at hiding it. If she had told someone, no one would probably even believe her. When she turned 18, she moved out and practically cutted all contant to her parents. She doesn't contact them, they don't contact her. She earned money at a diner, where she would work late, go home to bed, get up the next day and go to work. It helped with her depression, but it never went away. It was worse when she was alone, yet she lost her friends and boyfriends. One night changed everything. She had been at her brothers and had a lot of wine, yet she still drove home. At the middle of the road, an accident had taken place, but Valerie didn't slow down. It was a luck she didn't die. While she was at the hospital, the police wanted to figure the case out. Why didn't she slow down? She had a long progress at the hospital and after some time she got used to being around her all the time - for the first time in her life. She finally got taken seriously. The worst part was afterwards. She got back in her old life, but she had gotten a huge hospital bill. Bigger than she could ever afford. She knew her parents would say no, if she asked them. And as if God had heard her prayers, she met him. Calvin Ford; a rich and succesfull club owner. To her luck he fell for her beauty right away and a few months later, they said yes to each other. They mostly did it because of her dept. He pays her dept a little at a time, and at the beginning she thought he did it out of love. Later she founds out it was torture. He beats her, locks her in and sometimes he can be too aggressive in bed. He manipulates her to the deepest and she is terrified of being at home. Despite everything Valerie has been through, she is convinced it has only made her stronger. But as the time has flown by, she has gotten sure that she doesn't deserve to be loved. That is the effect that Calvin has on her. True love has never been in the picture, not now, not before. She's tried, but her childhood and Calvin has completely ruined it for her. She is a good person and she believes that there is something good in everyone; even Calvin. Everyday she searches for it. |
