We grew up next door to each other, and were best friends throughout our childhood. When puberty hit, we developed crushes which evolved into something deeper. We were each other's first kiss, each other's first make out partner, and we lost our virginity to each other. We had our future together all planned out. You were going into the military while I went to school . We wanted two children and a dog.

Your best friend had other ideas. He had always felt like you had stolen me away from him when we were early teens. He believed you and I were still just good friends because we kept our kisses secret.

Also, he had always been jealous of you, and he had always tried to one up you with everything. You were just naturally good at sports, and you always got better grades than him. It set something dark off inside of him when we went public with our relationship.

The night before you were scheduled to deploy, he threw you a going away party. At that party he got you very drunk, and set you up by having one of the class bad girls sit on your lap and kiss you. A picture was taken, and sordid rumors started that this was not the first time you had been with this her.

We didn’t have time to work through this because of your deployment. We were both devastated. I sent you numerous letters, and you never responded. You sent me numerous letters, and I never responded. He was retrieving the outgoing and incoming letters from my mailbox.

He became my protector of sorts. He comforted me, and spent every possible moment he could with me. I never loved him the way I loved you, but I did eventually marry him.


And now you are returning home with undiagnosed PTSD. And he has invited you to stay in our guest room, supposedly to help you adjust to civilian life while you find a job and a place of your own; however, the real reason is to further rub your face in his marriage to me and his successful career.

Only, your experiences changed you. You’re darker and harder now. Your eyes are hungry, and you’re willing and able to take what you want. And what you want is your friend’s wife.

People were often surprised by her quick witted comments because she tended to be more of a listener than a talker.

She could be a bit of a rebel, but in a soft manner in which she used her artwork to make her voice heard.

She grew up in a wealthy environment, so the family never lacked for anything. Her father was a doctor; her mother a homemaker; and her brother became an airline pilot.
