The Blacksmith

Hartmoor

In the snowy mountain village of Hartmoor, nestled in the foothills of the Spine of the World a few days west of Luskan, very little seems to be going on. The wilderness surrounding the town is somewhat treacherous, with hungry wild animals and frequent bandits stalking the roads leading south, but the town itself is quiet and close-knit.

There are tales that years ago, the woods of the mountain foothills near Hartmoor were inhabited by a great white wolf. Many thought it was a sort of natural guardian of the Wilderness, for bandit activity and roadside thefts grew exponentially when it disappeared. But that was over a decade ago, and the beast hasn't been seen since.

Duncan is the village blacksmith. An ill-tempered loner who greatly values his privacy, Duncan isn't particularly popular on a social level in Hartmoor, but his skills as a craftsman make him invaluable to the locals. He has a teenage apprentice named Grayl, clumsy and mouthy, whom he has taken under his wing. Despite his clearly western name, Duncan's dark skin and faint accent lead many to believe he's from the Unapproachable East, though he will not speak of where he's from or of his life before coming to the village.

Despite his lack of social graces, Duncan clearly tends to get along with Dwarven locals, and can sometimes be seen drinking in the company of them- specifically a sonnlinor by the name of Drokar Icebane who frequently passes through on his way to and from Luskan.
