Banbha Court (Goddess of Autumn)
The Banbha Court is located Southwest of the Áine Court, Southeast of the Callieach Court, and South of the High Court. Descendents of Banbha have dispositions that are ever changing, alternating from points of extreme happiness to desolation. Because of this, they are most similar to humans in terms of their emotions. They’re perceived as children, and are the least likely to be taken seriously in important matters. They wear mostly shades of brown and red-orange. |
Brigid Court (Goddess of Spring)
The Brigid Court is the entry point to Acpentorrix from the human realm. It is located to the Northwest of the Áine Court, Northeast to the Cailleach Court, and North of the High Court. Descendents of Brigid are compassionate. Generous and guiding, they are seen as the birthcourt of inspiration. They provide wonderful new ideas for Acpentorrix, including out of the box solutions for combatting both the human realm and Zerinifisea. They work relatively closely with the High Court. Their court is the most welcoming, with an incredibly inviting warmth. They often wear pink or yellow, and are the only court capable of healing humans without explicit permission from the high court. |
Scathach Court (Goddess of Magic)
Also referred to as the High Court, descendants of Scathach are the rulers of Acpentorrix. They hold knowledge the others cannot, and are entrusted with the safety of the fae and humans alike. Located at the center of Acpentorrix, and surrounded by the other four courts, this is widely considered by fae to be both the safest and most dangerous place in Acpentorrix. Fae from the high court often wear black or purple, with purple indicating higher magical status. They are perceived as wise, strict, and fair. They keep to themselves primarily, but are not inherently unkind to those in the other courts, shown by their willingness to let all without malicious intent visit. |
Áine Court (Goddess of Summer)
The Áine Court is located to the Southeast of the Brigid Court, Northeast of the Banbha Court, and the East of the High Court. Descendants of Áine have quick tempers. Easily angered and rather impulsive, it’s commonplace for them to burn bridges with others. The Áine Court controls the Sun’s Path in Acpentorrix. They often wear shades of green, influenced by the acres of fresh green meadows they occupy. Descendants of Cailleach are not allowed to enter the Áine Court without permission from either the Áine Court leaders or the High Court. |
Cailleach Court (Goddess of Winter)
The Cailleach Court is located to the Southwest of the Brigid Court, Northwest of the Banbha Court, and West of the High Court. It is the protection barrier between Zerinifisea and the rest of Acpentorrix. Descendants of Cailleach are perceived as cruel. Most believe them to be damaged in some form by the proximity to Zerinifisea. They control the Moon’s path in Acpentorrix. They often wear shades of blue or pure white, with white being indicative of higher status. While the other courts are allowed to visit, most choose not to, leaving the Cailleach court heavily isolated. |
Glamouring/Light Manipulation
Fae are naturally shrouded by glamour that prevents them from being seen and heard by humans. This does not always prevent them from being otherwise sensed by humans, such as through extremely heightened intuition, typically from empaths. Fae are not however shrouded to other supernatural creatures. They can manipulate the energy around them as well, glamouring inanimate objects by redirecting or bending the light around them. Half fae have the distinct inability to automatically glamour themselves, but it can still be learned through the same method as glamouring objects. Illusory Mind Projection
Faeries can cast illusions into others minds. Again, this requires a lot of energy, and frequently also requires immense practice. This can render enemies virtually paralyzed without physically hurting them as long as the illusion isn’t kept for so long that the person starves or otherwise is harmed. It also requires being within the general vicinity (or energy field) of the intended target. Immortality
Fae are immortal beings, as they are ultimately light energy personified. If a faerie is killed, their energy is reabsorbed into Acpentorrix, which only strengthens the realm. Fae age faster than humans, reaching adulthood within seven years of birth. They then age normally for seven additional years before their aging stops. Half fae children grow normally relative to humans, but will slow aging considerably once they reach the age of 25. By the time they’re 80, it’s likely they would only appear in their mid-50’s. Half fae tend to have a lifespan of around 150 human years, unless they enter Acpentorrix. |
Honesty
Fae cannot lie, but they are very adept at twisting the truth to hide their true intentions. While most are kind and fiercely loyal beings, they’re quick to anger if they feel hurt and it’s remarkably hard to regain their trust after broken. Flight
Fae can fly, though their wings are incredibly sensitive and if they lose feathers they don’t heal the same as the rest of them. Half fae children do not have wings. Iron
While the fae don’t get sick the same way as humans, they are unable to come into contact with iron without being severely burned and weakened. Prolonged contact would result in poisoning of the faerie’s blood and, eventually, death. Half fae are not immune to this, though they are partially resistant, being able to touch iron alloys such as steel and only being affected by pure forms of iron. |
Temperature Manipulation
In much the same manner as the fae manipulate light, they manipulate temperature, increasing the speed of atoms to create heat or slowing them to detract heat. Due to this, fae typically are not bothered by the changing weather. However, while half fae are less susceptible to changing temperatures, they are still affected by extremes on either end. Enhanced Healing
Fae blood is special, allowing them to heal much quicker than humans. It also gives them the ability to heal others, though this takes far more energy to perform and doesn’t often happen without explicit permission from the High Court since the Awakening. True Name
A faerie’s true name is special. Precious. While fae are obsessed with shiny jewels or glittery items, their names are the most important thing to them and some never share it with another for as long as they live. For those that know a faerie’s name, they hold the power to force them to do nearly whatever they want. |
