Killian Aleron

Killian had always been talented, showing promise in channeling the arcane. It was due to this talent that he was taken in by the kingdom's magic tower at a young age to be nurtured. He was given attention, tomes, and lessons, everything a young village boy could have hoped for. Sure he was a bit lonely at having been separated from his family but he was promised that they would be sent a monthly payment which was many times more than what his father and mother were earning at that time. They even allowed him to visit his family twice a year! So for a boy coming from a small village in the middle of nowhere, it was a blessing from the gods themselves.

That's where the fairy tale ends.

A child's mind was gullible and easy to manipulate, especially one that had been force fed promises and praise. In truth, Killian was one of the many who had been treated like that. His talent? It was the real thing but that only made them covet him more. They poured in the resources, furthering his development while also changing the way he began to think. By the time he reached adult hood, the bright eyed young man was gone and replaced with an indoctrinated soldier who followed orders without question and tore through the opposition with his destructive powers. It was that quality which earned him the name of Voidheart

He wasn't completely heartless though. Perhaps it was due to all the times he managed to visit his family that helped him retain a bit of his humanity. The ruthless magician who tore through the enemy had a soft spot for the innocents who were caught up in the crossfire, often choosing to stop and defend them if he could. This made him both respected and feared. Even when he got promoted to a position of power, his outlook didn't change. Killian wanted to protect the innocent and the helpless, which goes against everything he was taught.

With all his heroics, Killian's reputation with the common folk grew and grew. They looked at him like he was a hero, a savior, and a protector. He and his companions, a group of mages he had chosen, enjoyed the attention. It made them feel that there was a cause for their fighting. The royals and nobles class began to see him as a threat to their position but he was far too powerful for them to deal with alone. So they began to plot.
