  • Nature Deity

    Nymphs are, in essence, a form of nature. Descended from goddesses, nymphs are only female, and are born fully mature. They do not perform miracles or play tricks; generally harmless, their purpose is to maintain balance. That said, if balance requires destructive force, nymphs are not inherently gentle beings.

  • Laws of Nature

    All nymphs are constrained by the Laws of Nature. Earth nymphs cannot break diamond with stone; fire nymphs can not melt tungsten without heating it to over half the temperature of the surface of the sun, etc.

    Furthermore, nymphs are held to a high standard of success. Deforestation, ocean and air pollution, everyone is deemed responsible and expected to have equal same reliability. Humans make the process that much more difficult, but nymphs understand their necessity in the chain as well.

  • Powers/Vulnerabilities

    Divination
    Occasionally, nymphs will see flashes of the future with often little context. While this trait is not common amongst nymphs, it is possible of any nymph. Nymphs with control of multiple elements are more likely to have this capability.
    Sacred Temple
    Nymphs are all tied to an individual sacred temple. For Earth nymphs, it’s usually their tree of birth. But, in general, it can be any place that holds extreme significance to the nymph that ties their energy to it. These are often very hidden, and allowing someone into their sacred temple is incredibly vulnerable for them. Should something happen to a nymphs sacred temple (for example, the cutting down of a nymphs birth tree) the nymph would almost certainly die. There are a few rare times where this could be avoided if another nymph was there and willing to sustain them with their own energy for enough time, but it would be excruciatingly painful, both physically and emotionally, for both nymphs.
    Elemental Control
    Nymphs have the ability to conjure and manipulate the element of their birth entirely. Some nymphs may also be able to manipulate another element, though far less powerfully and sometimes even ineffectively. The easiest element for nymphs to control outside their birth element is Earth. The most difficult is Air.
    Immortality
    Technically, as nymphs are a part of nature, they are immortal. However, a nymph’s physical form will only survive a few hundred years naturally, as long as their sacred temple is protected.
    Enhanced Healing
    Nymphs are resistant to physical injury, but not immune. In instances where they are hurt, they will usually quickly recover. The main exception of this is if their sacred temple is destroyed. Nymphs can also heal others, though this takes more strength, and is easier for those wielding the control of multiple elements.
    Temperature Manipulation
    All nymphs have this capability to varying degrees. Fire and Earth nymphs can only use this power to increase temperature, water nymphs can only decrease temperature, and air nymphs can both increase and decrease temperature. Earth nymphs exposed to prolonged freezing temperatures will slowly lose strength until they are essentially rendered paralyzed until they are able to regain heat.

  • Unique Powers/Vulnerabilities

    Flight
    Air nymphs are the only ones capable of flight due to their ability to become lighter than air.
    Shapeshifting
    Earth nymphs are the only ones capable of shapeshifting into trees and woodland creatures such as deers, rabbits, and squirrels.
    Light Manipulation
    Both water and fire nymphs have this capability to varying degrees due to their ability to control electricity. However, water nymphs are severely weaker with this based on their necessity of a relatively large water source.
    Telekinesis/Pyrokinesis
    Earth nymphs have the capability of telekinesis, fire nymphs have the capability of pyrokinesis, and air nymphs have the capability of both, though to lesser extents on both.
    Invisibility
    Both water and air nymphs have this capability to varying degrees. While air nymphs can turn entirely invisible at will, water nymphs must rely on the mere illusion of invisibility through use of water.
    Elemental Conflict
    Nymphs do not always interact well with the elements they are not birthed with. While every nymph is different, most fire and water nymphs have discordance. Water nymphs that work intensely with ice may also clash with certain Earth nymphs. The best pairings are Fire with Earth, and Air with Water.
    Sound Manipulation
    Both water and air nymphs have this capability to varying degrees. Water nymphs are able to decrease volume by giving the sensation of one’s ears being stuffed with cotton balls, while air nymphs are able to decrease and increase volume, the ladder normally done by creating a shrill ringing in one’s ears. Air nymphs also have the distinct power of imitation by warping the space between their voice and one’s ears.
    Breathing Underwater
    Self explanatory; both water and air nymphs have this capability.
