  • Description

    Once upon a time, Aevras was considered relatively good-looking. He probably wasn't topping anyone's list, but thanks to his mother's Ruikka ancestry, people would call him "exotic" and think it was a compliment. However, those days are long behind him. Even though he has the physical appearance of a man in his late 30s, a century of illness and substance abuse has taken its toll on his body.

    His skin, once a warm olive, is now sallow, marred here and there by pockmarks and scars from healed-over lesions. Fortunately for what remains of his vanity, the majority of these can be covered by clothing or cleverly-applied powder. Aevras was never overly tall or physically imposing to begin with, but over the decades the ravages of disease have become apparent: he's far too thin for a man of his height, and relies on a cane for mobility.

    His features, though gaunt, are frequently mild and (to anyone who doesn't choose to look closer, which is most people) startlingly tend not to mirror the pain he's always in. His default expression is one of faint amusement, as though the foibles of others are entertaining rather than exhausting. His brow is creased with frown lines, crow's feet crinkle at the corners of his eyes, and his mouth is bracketed by deep smile lines.

    Another gift from his mother's heritage is a thick and often unruly mane of deep black curls, now threaded through with almost as much grey as black. His eyes are an unremarkable medium brown, deep-set and perennially ringed with bruise-like dark circles. His nose is aquiline, his mouth thin with a pronounced cupid's bow.

    Perhaps his most unusual feature is the set of arcane tattoos that run from the small of his back, across his shoulders, and down his arms, ending at the very tips of his fingers. The design is inscrutable, seeming to shift beneath the skin if one were to look too long.
