Chronicle

What you see before you might be a little confusing...

With binding made from a knight's armor covered in patched together minotaur hide leather, and various carnivorous teeth set into it's edges, this little book is quite formidable. Four tentacles are sewn into the spine, each an almost glittering shade of purple and covered in translucent purple slime. A tail also sprouts from the bottom of it's spine, crafted from a dragon's tail and tipped with a tuft from a unicorn's tail. Amber colored gems are set in it's front cover, perhaps serving as the creature's eyes. Its pages will always appear blank, until or unless the book wishes to share something, or speak to the reader, thus protecting it's various secrets.

Chronicle originated as a non-sentient book, on the shelves of the Great Chronicler himself. Crafted from various articles of supernatural or magical import, it was meant to be a book that could write it's own histories. Unfortunately, the Great Chronicler was afraid of the book, and tucked it away in the darkest, lonliest portion of his vast library, and thusly, Chronicle was forgotten.

After hundreds of years, of unused magics and supernatural energies building up inside the book, it eventually gained its own sentience. For decades, it crawled the halls of The Great Chronicler's libraries, unbeknownst to the Chronicler. By reading other books it found on those shelves, it gained in energy and knowledge, absorbing it all like a sponge... Until one day, it was accidentally discovered!

Chronicle was caught, bound, and removed from the library. It was supposed to have been burned alive, by one of the Chronicler's minions, but, he took pity on the confounding little book-creature, and released it. It has wandered worlds, since, seeking out a place where it could feel welcome and accepted... For all it's gory little quirks and nuances.
