Ran Gresog

Ran was born into the high, rugged mountains, where his tribe and family valued strength above all else. Goliath society, while built on resilience and unity, can be brutal. Ran's mother was a renowned warrior, and his father was a shaman who believed in the balance of the physical and spiritual worlds. As the second eldest brother of six brothers and sisters, Ran was expected to follow in his mother's footsteps after his older sister Nipesi died, leading the tribe with strength and honor. But as a young guy, Ran was different.

Though he was not smaller than his peers and had the natural strength of his kin, he wasn’t interested in fighting for glory or conquest. He was far more interested in helping those around him, often standing up for those who were bullied. This softness did not sit well with the other warriors. Many saw him as weak, and his mother, while loving, pushed him hard to conform to the expectations of his people. His mother's teachings were strict, teaching Ran that a warrior's strength was their worth, and in the eyes of the tribe, Ran was always second-best.
