Naegi

A God meant to die.

That's who Naegi is. While some gods and goddesses are prophesized to be immortal and all powerful, Naegi is not one of them.

From his creation he was the runt and was even given the name Naegi, meaning: Sapling. With a small physical and celestial form many deities underestimated his abilities. Rightfully in his own aspects he is stronger than other deities even if not physically. Naegi holds more human qualities than other gods and can harness a human physical form as well as natural divine appearance. He retains human emotion which has landed him in more than one skirmish amongst both deities and mortals alike.

However the deities truly began to disregard him when a prophet read his destiny as: Shi (死). Death.

This prophecy not only reached the ears of the other all-powerful divines but also the mortals who quickly disregarded the god as a fragile and weak being who would eventually find eternal sleep. This was infuriating to Naegi— not only was the small god being looked down upon but also his prophecy itself angered him. After living a long life of being the underdog that's all he'd amount to?

Death?

Naegi w̶a̶s̶, is determined to change his future.

The God 'Naegi' was founded in feudal Japan. Originally he was created solely to be accused of being the root cause of drownings in young children. This idea eventually shifted and parents who lost children to lakes or the sea claimed their children were lured to the water purposefully so Naegi could extend his own life force by stealing theirs. However children are very perceptive and began talking of the dragon-like God not drowning them, but saving them.

For a short time Naegi was viewed as merciful and righteous. All good things come to an end though. A well renowned mortal prophet claimed the God, Naegi, was not immortal and would face death by his own hands. This claim reverted the thoughts of the common people and many turned their backs on the small God. Once again they proclaimed him to be evil and cruel by trying to steal the life of others to save his own. Many believed him to be a trickster and liar who sought popularity and pity to save his own skin.

This was all false and enraged the God. He wanted to defy the fates— he needed to defy them. Death? He wouldn't sit idly by and await for it. So, Naegi fled into the mortal realm by harnessing a physical form.
