  • Reflection

    Amazing how surfaces reflect, like water, when still it's a perfect mirror image. All it takes is a simple breeze, fallen leaf, or a shattering stone to break the illusion. If it's like water.. It'll swallow you whole.
    
    Tonight, I sat under the moon. It's nearly full again. I can already feel the ache on my back, a reminder of what I've done. I sat beside a stream. The water's quiet laugh was a doorway to a past. A pool, there was a pool. Warm arms wrapped around me. Feathers against feathers, we were cocooned in our own world. Wings.. I had lovely wings.. The painful reminder always brings me back. Suppressed memories, I suppose, are the most difficult to uncover. I hope if I can dig deep enough I'll find my way back to my whole self. My magic is fading as the moon grows fuller each night. Come the full moon, there will be no defenses at the witching hour. I will be left to my demons. I must find shelter for this oncoming storm.
    
    Luck has given me mercy. A good man stumbled upon my ritual. I swept up the stones in a neat pile with my tail before he came into better viewing. He knows naught and I prefer too keep it that way. He tended to my scars with some cooling paste in hopes to promote healing. It helped with the constant ache for an astonishing amount of time. But it has since worn off and now the scars are angrier than ever. Threatening to burst, they've blistered and swelled. I'd hate to run into him again to see the wounds he treated look like this. I'd much rather have him believe I'm better. I do enjoy seeing him happy.
    
    I will try to hide until after the moon.

  • Sailing to a New Start to Old Ways

    The boat's constant rocking still causes most of the passengers sickness. I favor it. The salty wind and the sound of the sea beating on the ship. Today, I was a mouse and climbed through the ropes and weasled into the captains quarters. He had a very lovely stash of fruit and bread. The man also wasn't too bad looking. I found no photos or anything to incline a life off the boat but most sailors have only one love and that is the sea. He seems to have me under his eyes. I'll have to keep my wits about me for the rest of the voyage.
    He seems to have a vague feeling that I am fleeing the main land. Although, my story of being shipped to Guildereim for a marriage. I lead him to believe it was mine but I never said it was. If I ever run into him again I could say I've become accustom to the realm. I hope I won't have to see him for once he returns to the main land he may know why I left.
    The bounty on my head could tempt my closest thieves. That's why I left in the early dawn, alone, and headed to a far away place. Upon exploration of the vessel I've gathered some intell on the world I am diving into. The very bottom of the ship is packed to the brim with slaves and beasts of both familiar and alien beings. A few even tried to catch and eat me! I will have to be more careful when traveling. Above that is the cargo. A lot of food, cloth, a well guarded armory, and even a horse. The equine looks regal and may be valuable. Stealing a horse off a boat may be a challenge that could end me. My life and freedom isn't equivilant to a four-legged beast. I may take the intricate saddle.
    The land is close or so they say.. It is misty this morning andwe are going in slow to dock. I believe the captain has his suspicions on my social status. He frequently checked on me throughout the end of the journey. I plan to be a feral feline once in Guildereim. No one will pay attention to me as long as I kill a few mice. I refuse to eat them. Hopefully, I am safe here for a while.
