• The extra bits and bites

  Arista was once a delicate lady with a very classy reputation. But when her father hit rock bottom and was too ill to gain any real work he tried selling Arista's hand in marriage to cover his debts. As if hearing their troubled prayers a stranger turned up one dark night looking for a bit of shelter from the raging storm. His pockets were deep and his charm seemed endless. Arista's father hardly gave it a second thought when the unknown stranger offered him a heavy purse in exchange for his daughter's hand.
  
  Victor Malacheski whisked Ari away for what she thought was going to be some grand life full of pretty dresses and fancy masquerade balls. Instead she learned just how cruel the man behind the calm facade really was. For three years Ari withstood the beatings and the mood swings of her cruel husband. After the second year Arista became pregnant. Victor, hoping for a son, avoided hurting her in ways that would hurt his growing child. However one of his anger bursts caused her to go into early labor which brought on a very complicated delivery. Arista never met the baby. She never knew the gender but she suspected it was a girl since she never saw the babe again. Due to massive blood loss Arista died that night. Well sort of.
  
  The doctor who came to help with the birth of the newborn wasn't just a normal man. He was a vampire who enjoyed changing those at the edge of life and death. As she slipped away the doctor promised her vengeance. The doctor broke the news to Victor that Ari had died and offered to take her body to be buried. Victor, uncaring and not wanting to deal with the body himself, agreed to let the doctor deliver Arista unaware that Arista's body was in the process of becoming undead.
  
  Arista got her vengeance. Victor died a very horrible and very painful death two months later. No one seemed to know just what happened to him but then most people who actually knew him didn't care. Arista, too cold inside to care, chose not to search out the child though the doctor confirmed for a fact that the baby girl lived.
