  "A wise man once told me that if you're going to have a past, it may as well be multiple choice."
  
  Mashenka is fairly touchy about relating events before his arrival to Guildereim. If someone is willing to spend the time hunting in the library they might stumble across his slave papers from a few years back, but there is no detailed account of his past outside of what he has chosen to reveal. He likes it that way. Besides, the ladies love a man of mystery.
  
  A Wolf of Intrigue
  
  So what could someone find out about him? At first glance, most people see the obvious things: he's physically imposing, he has a sex drive that could fuel an entire porn industry and he's highly volatile. This combination tends to turn some people off as does the fact that he has a reputation for employing brutal tactics against those he doesn't care for. He likes his booze, he says some truly outlandish things and he doesn't claim to be anywhere near perfect (except when it comes to sexual prowess: he'll claim perfection and then some). It could even be said that he has a high opinion of himself. At worst, he may even come off as a megalomaniac. He's also not averse to cannibalism, openly eating unruly slaves in front of the cages as an example to the others. Even more disturbing, he seems to derive a sick pleasure from pain inflicted upon himself...and others.
  
  He Lives for the Thrill

  Upon closer inspection, there are a few redeeming qualities. While his actions continually baffle people (even those who would say that they know him best), he shows a great curiosity about the world around him. He enjoys reading and getting to know the motives of different people. To a much more alarming degree, he has shown a talent for chemistry rivaled only by experts in the field. Predictably, he enjoys provoking extreme reactions like explosions. He's undeniably passionate, evidenced by the variety of moods he can be found to exhibit. If he's angry, everyone can plainly see it. Likewise, if he's having a good time, it's extremely contagious.
  
  As for his own motives, well, sometimes even he doesn't know what's driving him to do things. When alone and among those he trusts, he has privately admitted to feeling as though someone else is controlling his actions sometimes.
