  Growing up with an abusive father and a mother who is always sick is way to turn anyone cold. Kaz was always told by his father that he would amount to nothing. Everyday he would watch his father leave for work, and come home from the bar drunk and angry. His always sick, but loving, mother would stop Kaz's father from beating him senseless. This endless cycle of sadness and abuse ended when Kaz's dad dies in a car wreck do to is repeated alcohol abuse. Kaz and his mom were happy for the longest time until Kaz's mother took ill with a rare illness that took her life. Devastated and alone, Kaz looks for something to fill the void in his heart. Maybe becoming Champion of Unova will accomplish that.
