The Curse

On the evening of September 13th (8 years ago), Ysrael attempted to kill himself by cutting his wrists. The thrall was beyond help and slowly the life was literally bleeding out of him. But because of a blood bond with his previous owner, Nicholas Cauldwell, the man felt his distress and came to him despite their recent falling out.

But instead of saving Ysra, Nicholas damned him, sending him to the underworld for punishment. There, he was cursed by the demon Yama, and sent back to live a life of torment. Now, Ysrael has no recollection of anything from the entire time he was owned by Nicholas. He remembers he is a slave, and little more.

Furthermore, Ysrael is plagued with nightmares far worse than any he ever had previously. The demon lord Yama haunts him and will not release the boy until he is finished with him each night. There is no way to prevent these nightmares, except to avoid sleep. No spell or drug will block out these dreams. Attempts to wake the thrall have resulted in physical injury to both himself and those trying to help him.

As a result of all this, Ysra suffers from a depression that he has no explanation for. A pain in his heart, a longing for something, but he has no idea what. When he is feeling low he can often be seen staring at what seems to be a blank piece of paper. He has become violent toward anyone trying to take the paper from him.
