• • Like a new life March 9th 1516, 3:36 am

    It had been ages since I felt that good. Ever since I've lost Avril I felt incomplete...depressed. I was just trying to drown that hurt from the bleeding emptiness inside me when I was in Skull Point. And then things started to explode...quite literally.
    There was that piratess in the tavern at the same time. Her name was Annie Bones. We decided to combine our forces to get through the attacking troops and the ships blockading the harbor. We fought our way through the soldiers to get to the harbor, while the whole place was being reduced to ashes and rubble.
    Once we reached the harbor, things started to get out of hand. I don't know why, but captain Bones was determined to rob a former Spanish galleon, knowing of some gem crusted barrels in it's hold.
    Needless to say, it didn't work and if not for my aid, she probably would have drowned in that ship, as it was sunken by the navy ships.
    With both our ships, we blasted a hole into the enemy's line and made our escape, but both ships had suffered. Hers more than mine, so I had my men throw over a rope, so we could drag them.
    The following weeks were difficult at first. She was blaming me, saying I didn't need to save her and that she would have managed to escape with the treasure.
    Eventually, she loosened up towards me. We started having dinner together, talking about our histories and our experiences. Before I knew it, both of us were laying together, sweaty and breathing heavily, her bed in ruins.
    Then we found that abandoned place she knew of - far enough from the main trading routes to not be found easily, close enough to allow some raids and trading.
    And now we're here, with a tavern back at usable state and a harbor and all. A new safe haven for us freethinkers. And a place I can always return to...find comfort in the warmth of Annie.

  • Missing July 5th 1513, 4:40 am

    I don't know what happened...one day we were going to sleep...and when I woke up the next morning she was gone. No trace of her whereabout. Just vanished like I dreamt. But she is no dream. She is real. I can still see her lovely eyes...smell her scent...feel her warm body next to mine. I feeel like I just have to reach out and grab her...but there is nothing but cold, dead air.
    What has happened my love? Wher have you gone? Why did you leave? So many unanswered questions.
    The crew is getting uneasy, fearing I'm not able to command the ship anymore. I have to show strength when out in the public. Even if it is naught but a masquerade.
    I am no man of religion. Never had been a reason to believe in anything but one's own hard work. But currently I'm praying every day that my beloved Avril will return to me one day...one day...

  • Unexpected delights May 23rd 1513, 5:23 am

    I never would have expected the first raid to go as well. Not in the terms of fighting, I had expected it to be pretty smooth with only a small French merchant-vessel as our target. No it was the booty I got. Besides the bit of gold, provisions and stuff worthy to be sold, I also found what most probably would consider the most valuable thing in life: love.
    I was quite surprised to find out that there was a passenger on the ship and not some ugly, fat french merchant, but a beautiful young female dancer with the lovely name 'Avril'. Somehow I managed to convince her that it was unnecessary to fight me and that I ment her no harm. We talked a bit during the day and she turned out to be kind, intelligent and charming with a natural beauty only few women in the world could ever hope to rival. But I knew, that this beauty was what put her at risk too. I trust my crew to follow my orders, but when men are far away from their families, friends or loved women, the beasts within them start to wake up at the sight as magnificent as her.
    I decided to bring her dinner and then tell her, that I was going to keep watch, so she stayed unharmed. She offered me some wine and so we talked a lot, enjoyed our meals with a great red wine and came to get to know each other better. And as unrational as it may sound: I immediately fell in love with her.
    After the dinner I gave the last orders of the day and then set up camp at the door. She came to my side and we talked some more...and somehow...well I just had to tell her of my feelings. She confessed her feeling by giving me a kiss I won't ever forget. What happened after that could be best described as the most memorable time of my life, filled with true feelings of love, not just some mere physical pleasure.
    I know that I love Avril and I will not let anything come between. She is more dearly to me, than my own life.

  • My own ship May 19th 1513, 2:35 pm

    Finally!
    After years of working myself to death on some god-forsaken ship of this bastard of a captain, I have gotten the chance I had waited for. He had done things no pirate of honor should ever do, things I can't even talk or write about...when things got worse, I spoke with the other crewmen aboard and we decided it was time for mutiny. When we left port, we overwhelmed the captain at night, chaining him in the brigg for when we land at Port Noble. While we were not certain, that we would be spared, our dreams of the riches for turning in this vile man made us forget our worries.
    Arriving at Port Noble, we quickly voted for a new captain...and they chose me. So I was the one dragging our former in front of the commander of the fort and explaining what we intended to do. After some I was led to the governor and we talked some time. He is a wise and good-hearted man, despite his snotty affectations.
    He had his servant write a letter of marque and signed it himself, handing it over to me for the promise of only attacking his royal highness' enemies.
    Now that the ship was mine, we set sail for the treasure island of our late captain...who we watched being hung before we left port. We shared the treasure and I sold off the sorry excuse for a ship, buying myself a new one.
    So here I am now, Hark Sabretooth, captain of the 'Brave Wind'. Now all I need are some trustworthy crewmen, before we can start our lives as his majesty's privateers, raiding his enemies ships, filling our ship's load with the booty of our fights. Live is going to be good.
