Basic Information

• Background / History

  Only a couple of years prior, Marzia's caretaker got in a lot of trouble with karma. He had been involved in thievery as well as several counts of murder; this got the devil's attention.
  
  "You live this way with a child in your care," the beast growled to the guilty man, "and assumed you were free of punishment. You are a demon among men, and as such, you will join me below them."
  
  Her guardian fell to his knees, begging, pleading, groveling for his life. The devil was not swayed.. until the blonde girl stood beside her sobbing father-figure.
  
  "What if we trade?" she offered; scared as she was of the obsidian-skinned creature, she loved the man that raised her. He had promised her protection; she would reciprocate. "My life for his."
  
  The devil was uninterested in her offer of a noble self-sacrifice. "Beings like you have no place below," he started, focusing more intently on her. Underneath her flesh, he sensed unharnessed magical ability and spirit.. something he could use as the undertaker of the damned to further his own strength.
  
  "However.. I will take the largest portion of your soul possible," the demon explained as Marzia's caretaker whispered hurriedly to her, telling her to back down, but she wouldn't be swayed. "That leaves you with enough to continue to live. In exchange.. the man's life."
  
  Marzia went through with the barter but was tricked by the crafty creature. The devil took most of her soul as well as her father-figure's life, leaving her with only a lesson learned: trust no man, be it demon or otherwise.

• Abilities

  As a result of her fractured and minuscule soul, Marzia is able to hear the whisperings of the dead who walk among the living. It's difficult to clarify what they say unless she focuses; mostly it's just noise in her ears. When she daydreams, her focus is no longer on the present, and the voices become sharper and more audible. She is unable to see the owners of the voices.
  
  The majority of Marzia's innate magical abilities was absorbed by the devil in their unbalanced exchange. She is able to do some magic, but without proper training from the right individual, she will remain weak and generally unskilled in that area.
