In this page I will give some details about Maxx's abilities, his weapons and other random stuff like a guest book (everyone likes a guest book right?!). Avoid this page if you would prefer to find out any of this information via IC means.

Please remember that anything read here only applies to a RP once it has been revealed in a RP. Doing otherwise will simply result in the information being ignored. You have been warned!

Central to the Draak is the ability for them to manipulate energy. There are four basic forms of energy manipulation, these can be combined in various ways to achieve more complex results.

Energy manipulations naturally attempts to seek a balance, attempting to tip the scales too far in one direction or another can cause adverse effects on the wielder.

The power of Chaos is to restore balance between Harmony and Ruin. The power of Harmony is to preserve, repair and construct, the power of Ruin is to destroy and unmake. Both can use the abilities of the other to a degree however going against the natural alignment of their abilities requires the user to supply their own energy to overcome the barrier.

It may also be worth noting that anyone can use some of these abilities, they simply require training and instruction.

Positive manipulation: This involves pulling or pushing together energy fields to condense them into. This ability is a feature of Harmony.

Negative manipulation: This involves pulling or pushing the energy fields within matter to decompose it into energy. This ability is a feature of Ruin and is the primary ability used by most Draak.

Positive transitional manipulation: This involves merging multiple energy fields to change its type or strength. This additional energy must be supplied from somewhere else. This type of manipulation can also be known as absorption.

Negative transitional manipulation: This involves splitting an energy field to change its type or strength. This additional energy must be transferred somewhere else. This type of manipulation can also be known as projection.

Here I will go through the details of their form shifting ability, what it entails and correct a few misconceptions. Some things will make more sense with the energy manipulation section being read first.

The Draak can take any form they desire. They can be big; they can be small. They can be thin, and they can be fat. Anthro or feral are both options as is the ability to exist without a physical form at all.

While they can take any form they desire and can tweak and alter it to their needs they are still restrained to the limits that the form implies. If they pick a small body, then to make it stronger they need to increase the strength of the muscles. However, doing so puts extra stress on the bones and so those need to be made stronger or denser. Doing this will further increase the weight and require more muscle. You start to see the problem.

For example. If you were to take the body of a small feline (think house cat) then the body has limits based on the form. It can be made faster without violating the natural limits however making the strength comparable to that of an elephant is simply silly.

A question that is frequently asked is how shape shifters can become larger and smaller since their weight would remain constant: changing a mouse into an elephant would result in a very light elephant! Ordinarily this is true however the Draak's ability to manipulation energy directly allow them to break down parts of their bodies and turn them into energy to lower their weight. Similarly, they can condense energy from around them to increase it.

Another question that is frequently asked is if Maxx has a physical form (other than his native energy based one) at all. The answer to this is a resounding no - their kind existed before matter existed and so do not have a native form. They are simply what they appear to be at any given time.

The final ability of note is that of Soul Forging. This ability is unique to the Draak and forms the basis for many of their weapons.

As with everything the soul is a form of energy. The energy form however is quite unique: it can be created from nothing, and it defies the normal laws of balance. It cannot be negated but in theory it could be converted into other forms of energy.

Soul Forging involves extracting a piece (or whole) soul from a being and imbuing it into metal. From there it can be moulded and constructed into tools and weapons. Maxx possesses one form of Soul Forged weaponry - Telum (swords). This process results in an object that is still connected to the original soul yet detached from it.

The type of metal into which the soul is imbued important as some materials will degrade the soul, whilst others will amplify certain aspects and effects. Some metals will simply reject the soul entirely. The process of extraction and sealing must be done correctly or the item that houses a soul or soul fragment will degrade and be destroyed.

Why go through all the effort? The items are imbued with certain characteristics or abilities that would have been possessed within the host, magnified through resonance with the specific material. If the soul fragment came from one who could regenerate then the material could possess a similar property, etc.

I will keep the exact nature and process by which the souls are extracted and sealed a secret; I do need to keep some surprises for a RP after all!
