  Roy has participated in the defense of the Tether, and though he severely disliked being a slave there, it was far better than after the Drakorians took over. After the first skirmish he was healed by a unicorn, even making his bad leg better, but after encountering a small group of Bugges, the lackeys of the wyrms, Roy attempted once more to defend the Tether, and wound up with more injuries, though nothing severe. Most notable is a split lip, and a bruise across the left temple. Any other injuries are hidden by his clothing, though he once more is walking with a slight limp, this time while his left knee heals from a sprain.
  
  As things worsened and the Drakorians tightened their grip, Roy began to ingratiate himself to certain Bugge gaurds, playing the good slave, and looking for opportunities. He found one while emptying chamber pots, slipping away into the jungle where he has been playing hide and stab with various bugges. For the most part, the man got himself quite lost and nearly gave up hope, until he found the beach. Bedraggled, filthy and with a healthy respect for the native wildlife, Roy began to make his way back towards the Tether. He smelled smoke at some point, and followed his nose to the rebel camp, while it was in the midst of being burned out by the Drakorians.
  
  Unfortunately, perhaps due to the time spent lost in the jungle, Roy wasn't completely up to snuff, and when he joined the fray he was quickly taken out by the bugge he attacked. It took two blows to the noggin to render him unconscious, but he had to be carried off the battlefield over a compatriots shoulder.
  
  Not more than a week after the Tether was retaken Royce was purchased by a mysterious lady who first rode him like a racehorse, then rewarded him for it by purchasing his freedom. At first reluctant to accept this, Royce now walks the streets a free man, looking for a job to occupy his time.

• Biography

  Royce was part of a Top Secret Experiment where convicts, deserters and people who needed to disappear were sedated and hooked up to a huge computer where they could be placed in any number of situations. Many suffered brain aneurisms or seizures, but some showed such an ability to adapt and survive that they were sold on the black market, ending up in illegal fighting rings for the most part. Royce had no idea how he ended up at the Tether, but he knew he didn't like it. And he really didn't like the man who claimed to be his master. Sho'kek was half human, half troll, big and ugly, but rather intelligent, taking on the man's training personally, teaching him better ways to be a pit fighter, intending on entering him as a gladiator at The Golden Tether after Royce had started winning more matches.
  
  After a while Sho'kek realized he was becoming aroused whenever he sparred with his slave, especially in hand to hand combat. He started taking Royce to his chambers after winning matches, and the first two times, though he fought, Royce was beaten into submission. The third time, he managed to slip a knife in under his shirt and, when Sho'kek sought to wrestle him into submission, stabbed the half-breed in the chest. Luckily for Sho'kek, he had two hearts and, though he will always have to take it easier, will likely live a long life. Royce was put up for sale in the Tether, labeled as disobedient and hard to handle.
