History

• Childhood

  The fates would ensure this one never had what could be called a typical childhood: The bastard child of his beloved mother and a particularly barbarous dragon, his gestation and birth had been particularly rough on the Sand Cat... so much so that shortly after his 5th birthday she passed on into the void. Devastated at the loss of his mate, Conner's father turned to the bottle to numb the pain, resulting in considerable neglect. He was forced to mature earlier on as he was often left to fend for himself in the small settlement that cropped up around a large oasis in the deserts of the east, persecuted by the community for his half-blood nature and all but cast out into the empty wilderness on the outskirts of the oasis.

• Adolescence

  By the time the lad reached 10 years of age he had already gathered enough experience from hunting and foraging to make rudimentary potions and tinctures. Swiftly learning the value of such knowledge he began to pour himself into his work, learning all he could of the alchemical craft given his limited resourced. After unsuccessfully peddling his wares for two years he was taken in to the Traji'ri Institute for the Gifted in the capitol several weeks travel away, an unknown benefactor financing everything from his tuition to traveling expenses. Having been saved from what would undoubtedly been a miserable life, Conner increased the fervency of his studies ten-fold, taking full advantage of the nearly unlimited research resources now at his disposal.
  
  Before long he had already surpassed the level of classes that he was allowed to take and started branching out into extra-curricular activities and additional studies, in spite of the near constant harassment from the other students as his mixed blood continued to haunt him. The staff at least seemed to tolerate him, though frequently rejected his requests to advance further and without the guidance his going would be slow.

• Adulthood

  Conner continued to advance in his studies at the institute for several years, becoming an exemplary student, developing into an excellent alchemist, and growing into a strapping young male. Top marks out of all his peers, he would be an even bigger target for the teasings... and now that all involved were grown the altercations started to take a violent turn. On more than one occasion he would be dragged into the infirmary littered with bruises and fractured bones. Just after the end of his seventh year he received a letter from the university stating that he had been given a special assignment, an opportunity for field work and experience with an esteemed alchemist that had given lectures at the institute several times over the course of his stay. Without hesitation he packed his travel bag with all that he owned, donned his worn leather trench coat and set of for a place called The Golden Tether.
