• Written from Dizz's point of view, the Journal will double as his notes and my way of keeping up with everyone and everything he encounters. My memory sucks sometimes, so I'm going to do my best to keep this updated and fill it up as things progress.

  • First Day in NV November 3rd 2015

    Today was my first day around New Versailles. Grabbed this book to keep track of things, and maybe read back later and laugh. Anyway, I met a cool girl named Xiu who said some just call her Tinkerbell. The more I think on that.. The more I think maybe it has something to do with the fact she's a mechanic. I'm a little slow on the intake tonight. However! She put the idea in my head that we are going to build a Bat Mobile and tear up the town like Joker and Harley Quinn. I have to admit, I've not been this excited in awhile. Call me a nerd if you will, but I am REALY looking forward to seeing that car built and in action.
    
    Of course my entire time in NV isn't going to be spent being nothing but a prankster, because that doesn't pay bills and obviously at some point I'm going to need a job. But this is a great start before the serious stuff comes into play. Xiu is my first friend made here, so pranks with her from time to time even AFTER I get serious and hunt a job are still a given. After all, trouble is in my DNA, or at least I've been told.
    
    All in all, not a bad first day.

• Insanity...

  Years Ago (Excerpt from Whispers in the Dark) :
  
  "We'll start with simple questions, okay?" Kelly asked him.
  
  "That's fine," Dizz's eyes burned into hers. She shivered, forgetting her words for a moment before shaking it off and swallowing hard.
  
  "What's your name?"
  
  "Demetri Dizzerta," he answered slowly. It had been so long since he'd used his full name, his real name. Angie gasped softly. She had never even known it until now.
  
  "Why were you here?"
  
  "I was labeled as a psychopath," Dizz answered, "And due to certain circumstances at the mental institute, I was sent here and registered as a 'threat to society'. I was meant to rot in solitary, out of sight and out of mind."
  
  "What circumstances?"
  
  "My therapist that evaluated me was driven insane in his attempts to 'fix me'. My mind was a lost cause apparently and he lost his while trying to help me regain mine."
  
  "So because he went mad, they blamed you for it?"
  
  "Yes."
  
  "And sent you here? For a man going insane? That doesn't sound fair. How could that have been YOUR fault?"
  
  "Life is never 'fair', not for anyone. And it WAS my fault, because my mind was what drove him insane. He couldn't handle it."
  
  "So your mind was the reason you're in here? Basically?"
  
  "Yes," he answered.
  
  "Dizz, tell me about your past.. If you don't mind... As a kid, what kind of life did you have?"
  
  "Heh," intense orbs softened a bit from the memories, causing them all to go wide-eyed. "Well," he continued, "I was a genius. I excelled in school and everyone always told me I could be anything I wanted to be. Anything at all could be in my grasp when I grew older. That didn't last. Nothing that good ever does. It will last just long enough to where you will miss it when it is violently ripped away from you. I was kidnapped when I was nine years old. My family wasn't extremely well off, but we were doing pretty good for ourselves. It attracted attention. My parents were murdered the night the kidnappers broke into our house. I was forced to sit and watch as the men raped my mother and then slit her throat as she was screaming out to me. I couldn't run. I was frozen with fear and paralyzed in horror.. My father was already dead. They had killed him the moment they entered the house, stabbing him dead in the heart. All I could do was whimper and whisper 'Mommy' over and over and over. I couldn't even cry, because the fear had me so helpless, so numb that I even wondered a few times if I was dead... By the time the night ended, I wished I had been."
  
  "Oh my God..." Angie whispered as she backed into a nearby table for support. The room was deathly quiet as they all waited for Dizz to continue.
  
  "I was beaten down to an inch of my life and then they'd wait until I would heal a bit before doing the same thing again. I was captive for about three years. Sometimes, they would bring other children into the run down building and do the same to them as well. The little girls got it worse, for obvious reasons.. Their innocence stolen from them by the heartless pigs that had captured us all. Right.. in front ..of me... Over and over I had to watch as they mauled innocent girls... Over and over I couldn't look away. Oh how I wanted to, I wished I were blind so many times back then. The horror held my eyes, no matter how badly I fought it. My sanity didn't stand a chance... When I was 'rescued' after all that time, the police tried to contact my family, reminding me once again that my parents were dead. They asked me if I had KNOWN that. How could I have not known when I had to sit and WATCH them die??" He paused to regain himself, and continued softly, "They placed me into foster care.. I remained there in a crappy little building that barely took care of their kids for years, until I was roughly fifteen. I ran away. I came across a back alley with an underground stadium, for cage fights. It drew me in on the first night.. I would watch as the men that fought were so tough and strong. They fought like they had been doing so their entire lives. I wanted to move like that. I wanted the fear to be gone.. The weakness that made me lose my parents, and sit so helplessly through those years, I wanted it dead. So, I found a teacher to train me. He became almost like a father. The training was never easy and it took all the strength I had to keep going at times, but in the end, it paid off. I stepped into that cage one night and I actually fought back. I actually won a match against a man twice my size and earned a hefty sum of prize money. That was my life for five years. Cage matches night after night. I lived in a simple apartment in the complex nearby that alley and paid rent with my winnings. I got by pretty easily for awhile."
  
  "What changed?.." Kelly asked softly.
  
  "My trainer was murdered one night. I found him dead in the alley when I got there for the night's events. He had been laying there for awhile as the stench was awful... Possibly even days. No one had made the move to help him or call it in and it made me lose it. How could people be so cold? So cruel? So evil? That they would let an elderly man lay in the street and rot instead of just calling even anonymously and reporting a murder.. I KNEW someone had to have seen him because the stadium was already full. Did no one really care? Seriously? My mind couldn't handle it. I snapped. The cops were called and I was too unhinged to even tell them why I was so angry, so twisted, so insane... They threw me in a mental ward and tried to give me meds for it, to 'calm me down'. I was a hard one to handle. I didn't want medicated. It was poison to the mind. I wanted to be explained to why every freaking person I crossed paths with could be killed so cruelly? Why I had to WITNESS all this evil first hand.. Why did it have to be me? The one who could have had anything he wanted.. The one who could have been anything he dreamed of. I could have flown to SPACE! I could have been a DOCTOR and saved lives! The very same lives that were ripped away from me when I needed them the most. Why was I forsaken? Why was I meant to end up like this? I was a genius who did nothing to anyone and then just like that..... Don't you feel sorry for me either. I don't want pity. I don't want sympathy, and I sure as heck don't want you to look at me with sadness Angie." His insane orbs burned into hers, "I fell in love with you because you're not a monster. You're not like everyone else in this world. You save people.. You don't hurt them. You're a good person. You're a good girl..."
  
  "Oh Dizz..." Angie choked, "Can I at least hug you? It's not out of pity. It's because I love you too and I really just wanna squeeze you so tight right now.."
  
  "Yes.." Dizz answered and she crossed the room, embracing him tightly.
  
  "I can see why your mind would be hard for someone to 'fix'," Angie breathed, "So much pain behind those intense eyes of yours.."
  
  "More than one would think," Dizz murmured slowly. If anyone could have really 'saved' him, it would have been Angie. She still could pull it off and cause him to pass on. After all, they had an eternity to work on it.
  
  "...This is insane," Tyler said in awe, "I mean... just... dang."
  
  "Angie's turn..." Dizz whispered in her ear causing chills to crawl across her skin slowly. She nodded gently, moving to sit in his lap since she knew he wouldn't mind it at all. His response was another famous Cheshire grin across twisted features.
