  Gervais Andras (jur-vey ah-n-drahs) is a sly, suave, and manipulative character by nature. It is hard to distinguish his true personality, as he is a chameleon and shifts to the appropriate persona for each occasion. In general, he seems good-natured, playful and pleasant, occasionally revealing a dark-humored and cynical view of the world. He can be extremely seductive, able to woo victims of both sexes, and often does so. As a minstrel, Gervais is a talented singer, known for having an heavenly voice, and a soothing, engaging tone when he speaks, though he is heavily accented. Rarely, when angered, frustrated or physically hit, the elf is known to have outbursts of ineligible Orlesian (French), shouting and flailing his arms about, often climbing into trees to vent or ponder. He likes offering helpful advice to his companions, revealing a sweet, caring side among his playful one.
  
  Standing at 5'4, Gervais is quite tall for an elf, though still small in overall stature. He has an extremely fit figure, with lean muscles that are cut, and curve into mounds when flexed. With creamy, porcelain skin, his black shoulder-length hair contrasts his pale skin. With piercing, sky blue eyes, Gervais is considered attractive by most standards, using his looks to his advantage. He has a dark, black tattoo upon his face and forehead.[/size]

• Origin of the Blade

  Gervais, along with his twin sister, were born in Orlais twenty-six years ago to a noble family. At the age of five, while playing in the woods, Gervais was kidnapped by a group of men and taken across Orlais to be sold into slavery. Bought and raised by a mysterious group of rogues, the elf was taught the secret arts of being an assassin, and when his talent for singing emerged, was trained to become a Bard. For years he endured grueling tests, torture and voice training, emerging as the perfect minstrel. By the age of fourteen, Gervais had already made a name for himself within the order of secret assassins, now known as the Blade of Orlais, rising through their shadowy ranks steadily. At the age of twenty, upon the request of the Empress, the order sent the Blade of Orlais to Val Royeaux to serve under her immediate orders. After impressing her Highness with several successful assassinations, he gained a permanent spot in her court. Serving at court for nearly six years, Gervais remained the Empress's favorite until hired to assassinate his own parents, whom she claimed led a conspiracy against her. Though he had not seen his family in twenty years, he initially denied her request, whereby she threatened to hire another assassin to kill his entire family, including his beloved sister. Forced to choose, Gervais agreed to the assassination orders, but made plans to defy them. Upon revealing his survival to his family and the Empress's plans for them, he smuggled them out of Orlais and into Antiva, giving them his fortune to live on. Furious at Gervais, the Empress hired his own order of assassins to track him down and kill him. Unable to escape, he was eventually ambushed and left for dead on the road until the Commander of the Grey (Elias Surana) and his party discover him. After saving the elf from his injuries, the Warden Commander conscripted Gervais, sending an official notice to the Empress that Gervais was under the Wardens' protection and to no longer pursue him. Now, as a Grey Warden, Gervais serves under the Commander, occasionally travelling with them on their adventures across Ferelden.[/size]
