powers: shapeshifting Aera may take on a variety of shapes, namely her anthro feline and dragon form. Besides these, she may also take the shape of any species of bird/avian. dragon - the most notable of her alternate forms. much more bestial and aggressive. if not for battle, typically invoked to travel long distances or reach areas otherwise unreachable by foot. she does not speak verbally in this form, only with growls and churrs, though her 'battle cry' has become popularized as the herald of disaster, the summoning of vicious winds and weather to destroy her enemies. it has been named calamity's cry. wing types an odd, if almost confusing ability, Aera changes her wings at various intervals, though the 'trigger' for the switch isn't quite known by anyone, nor has she revealed it. the most common theory is that they change via her mood, or the weather. season may also be a cause, or merely just whimsy. wings vary in type, length, and appearance, but almost always remain relatively the same color(s). they may be of the same type (feathered wings, for example), but with entirely different designs and/or structures. it isn't known if she has a limited amount of wing types, or if they are endless. all of them are capable of flight. |
summoning Aera's summoning is not of an animal or object, but rather of nature itself. tornadoes, hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones and other wind-related catastrophes can be summoned at her whim, sometimes unintentionally due to emotional stress or conflict. levitation and some psychic abilities are also hers. she can speak with and usually tame any flying creatures, typically birds, even if they are feral. Aera can manipulate the air, and whatever is in it, including but not limited to smoke, fog, mist, oxygen (and other components), clouds, and occasionally weather. Aera can also maneuver the air and its components as a weapon (say to choke someone or remove oxygen). regeneration Aera cannot "die" as mortals do, though she can be rendered immobile or dormant, even bound. her regenerative abilities are around the same of other non-mortal creatures, such as vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, etc. speed of recovery depends on the amount, type and location of damage. pacts as a non-mortal entity, Aera has the ability to grant others a request, in exchange for something else. any mortal means of bargaining (contracts, handshakes, promises) do not restrain her from going defunct on the agreement. she must give her word, where she must specify which action(s) or service she is bound to, and what she is receiving in return. she cannot betray the bargain, under penalty of forfeiting her powers. Aera rarely reveals any of this information unless she is asked, or she finds it would be beneficial, as it could make her a vulnerable target for blackmailing. |
